Well, is it possible that he did fumble, but that the guy who recovered it was out of bounds? The wash at guys legs were out of bounds when he had full control of the ball. He possibly had it under control while still in.

Losing to Iowa State is Golden-esque tho

His situation right now reminds me of when RR was at Michigan.  New AD, not much booster support, and he's going to have a hard time attracting quality assistants to makeover the offensive staff with his seat as hot as it is. 

He should leave for Miami.

That's the absolute worst night for a kicker. You go for 4-4/5-5 and your FG was the only reason you pulled within striking distance technically. The offense couldn't finish those drives. He saves them. He doesn't save them here when they finally go a long distance in little time and after a miss he's the goat.

I don't normally give kickers much credit at all because players miss tackles and get cut and nobody feels sorry for them. Somebody misses a FG and blow a game and the eventual pendulum swing is back the other way where coaches say 'We still trust ____" to restore confidence.
