So I watched Boyz N The Hood last night for the first time in a long while.

And man...

I don't know if John Singleton wrote Ricky to be that stupid, but I just know that we he got shot, this was the first time I was not upset about it.

This scene right here is what got my opinion to change on that clown.

Did you see it??? Watch again.

After the shots ring out what does Ricky do?

He runs back to grab his bag of doritos.

Doritos.

He put his valuable life in danger over junk food.

So after that, I realized like every decision Ricky made in that movie was the wrong decision.

-Brought his football along when Dough told him not to.

-Burned the food out the cookout.

-His girl not using birth control!!! He's already got one kid and no job.

-Seriously considered joining the army on a lazy saturday...over a commercial.

-Barked back at Ferris, a known killer, and Ricky can't even take a punch.

And then there's that fateful day where he got killed.

Rick was 100% in the wrong this entire scene.

-He stops to take a piss (strike 1)

-Decides to split up rather than stick with Tre, the brains of duo. (Strike 2)

-Starts scratching lottery tickets when dudes are in car looking for him??? (You're out!)

I'm sorry y'all but that dude did not take his life serious at all.

He was portraying a KID, who made mistakes, but also sought direction in his life. Unfortunately, it was too late. That's what struck a nerve with people more than anything. What most viewers have is the advantage of hindsight.

A couple of the decisions you listed were the reflection of him not having a father...

...that was done on purpose.
True.

But at the same time, something about him running back for those bag of doritos just infuriates me.
it's to illustrate that he's still a child, young and careless and invincible in his own mind

and that that will be his downfall as it is sometimes for many young people on the brink of adulthood

You know us brothers arent used to this cold weather, we tropical brothers

Well get yo tropical *** off the mutha****** ice chest and pass me a brew

He got a 710 on the SAT, I don't think they were trying to portray him as a genius.

No offense to anyone with similar scores.

I never liked how his mother treated him compared to Cube, even though they were brothers. She thought Ricky was special and resented Dough Boy.

Ricky was the ticket out the hood. The "good" one.

Boys got me bout to watch Menace :smokin

Rip Morris Chestnut

But we wouldn't have run Ricky run by Manolo rose either and that song slaps
Song does slap
BUT
prolly woulda been named run Kane run( menace II society)
And the boys in the hood references for the first verse woulda been that instead
Wouldn't have been mad at a verse from set it off
