Let's talk about that weak *** SAT score.....
Not that important. It was the math portion that got him the 700. Remember how Furious mentioned that the SAT is culturally biased, and only the math is universal.

But what I do what to bring up is: Is there anything actually endearing about Ricky besides the point that we're *supposed* to like and root for Ricky?

Like Dough told Tre, "Don't be like this ************. This ************ got babies, in-house *****. Let me do **** like that, Ma would be like: "I ain't having it." :smh:

RIcky was mainly likeable because of Dough existing. And Dough being the heel.

Almost like how Heaven isn't really desirable outside of the existence of Hell.

The Duality of the Brothers.

But Ricky smiled a lot, walked to the store to get cornmeal so his "wife" could fry fish. He also worked hard during practice. I also guess him wanting to go into the ARMY would make him babyface.

Great points being brought up in here. :nthat:

And not to pile on, but Ricky and Dough having different fathers was made pretty clear.

I agree about Clockers being a nice flick. Speaking of hood movies, I was late to the Shottas party and just watched a few weeks ago. It was funny seeing DJ Khaled as a regular sized dude in his little part as the dude kickin it outside of the liquor store.

Juice will always be my favorite since it was the first movie that I got to take a date to. Well I met her there, but still. Those old drop off at the movies days. :pimp:

Shottas 8).....The revolver in da playoff 12s 8)

Rickys girl tho 8)

In class act :smokin

Ahhh.

This brings to me to why I think I realize I hate Ricky's character so much now.

He's just a reflection of his mother. Ricky was babied for too long (and still was until he got smoked), and look what happened.

Crying at Ricky = Cena. But agreed about his assessment. He's definitely the most unlikeable character in BNTH. Everything he did just made you shake your head and walk away like Lawrence Fishburne

A couple of weeks ago I went and watched all the gangsta movies to lead up to "straight out of Compton"

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY RICKY SAID

"I'm still trying to find out, V-****!"

What the **** is a "v-****" ???

Note to everyone: pay attention to dialogue in movies. It will save you the trouble of asking stupid questions about basic plot points and character development.

Ricky had a speech impediment?

Based on some of the responses in this thread, nobody actually paid attention to the dialogue. Not only that, one dude in here really thought O-Dog got away with it in Menace. The guy was shown getting put in a cop car. He was done for. The cops had him based on evidence.I don't know what more people want.

Just watched it again and I'll admit I was wrong about the father thing.

Paid In Full will always be the goat hood movie.

So I watched Boyz N The Hood last night for the first time in a long while.

And man...

I don't know if John Singleton wrote Ricky to be that stupid, but I just know that we he got shot, this was the first time I was not upset about it.

This scene right here is what got my opinion to change on that clown.

Did you see it??? Watch again.

After the shots ring out what does Ricky do?

He runs back to grab his bag of doritos.

Doritos.

He put his valuable life in danger over junk food.

So after that, I realized like every decision Ricky made in that movie was the wrong decision.

-Brought his football along when Dough told him not to.

-Burned the food out the cookout.

-His girl not using birth control!!! He's already got one kid and no job.

-Seriously considered joining the army on a lazy saturday...over a commercial.

-Barked back at Ferris, a known killer, and Ricky can't even take a punch.

And then there's that fateful day where he got killed.

Rick was 100% in the wrong this entire scene.

-He stops to take a piss (strike 1)

-Decides to split up rather than stick with Tre, the brains of duo. (Strike 2)

-Starts scratching lottery tickets when dudes are in car looking for him??? (You're out!)

I'm sorry y'all but that dude did not take his life serious at all.

ROFL, NT needs more posts like this! Repped!

We haven't had a great hood film in a while. Paid in Full was probably the last one. Off the top of my head...my favorites in no particular order are:

The Friday series
Menace
City of God
Belly
Juice
New Jack City
Above the rim
Baby Boy
Dead Presidents
In 2 Deep
Fresh
New Jersey Drive
Do the right thing
State Property
Clockers

I'd like to see a good hood film set somewhere other than NY/LA. Need to make one in Atl or Bmore. ATL was above average.

City of God is the best FILM ever made though :pimp:

Still haven't seen Shottas. It's sittin on my HDD but keep forgetting to watch it. My mother-in-law keep tellin me to watch

Ricky's naivete made people shake their heads, add Doughboy to the picture and it made u look deeper at why he was the way he was. W/o Doughboy, Ricky's death would be celebrated due to his ignorance.

Now Cochise, he really was gon make it out the hood :smh:

City Of God is a GREAT movie. I think having to watch it in subtitles takes away from it for some ppl. The movie IS on Netflix for those who have never watched it
