Nas & Prodigy - Self Conscience Appreciation Post

Play this CD all the time still. This album is underrated, so many joints on here.

Da Bridge 2K1
Real N's
Find Ya Wealth
Teenage Thug
Kids In the PJs
Street Glory

One of my favorite Nas verses and P used to be so ill.

When **** leave and no weed I still know me, just myself
Fear is weakness learn from what experience teaches
Beware of leeches, the vampires, my secret's
Never follow, cause most ****** is straight up cowards
Take care of my body's the temple, my mind is the power

Damn I forgot about this joint!! Man I miss THIS Prodigy. I'll always say buddy was top 5 during this era.

Another sleeper from this album....

Even with the lyrical decline, Prodigy's only brick is HNIC3. Scratch that, add the Bumpy Johnson EP. HNIC3 was flat out awful, both beats and rhymes. Bumpy Johnson was just a boring sleep-inducing mixtape.

^ That's the thing for me though--the lyrical decline makes pretty much anything after HNIC unbearable to listen to. Knowing what he was once capable of and then hearing his struggle raps just pisses me off. This cat has wasted so many ill ALC beats over the years. :smh:

I wish I knew what the hell happened to him to cause such a massive decline in his rapping ability. Has there ever been a bigger fall off?

Return of the Mac was excellent.

As far as whose suffered such a lyrical decline...I really can't think of anyone else . Only other drastic change in flows I can think of are Lloyd Banks and Lil Flip. I can still listen to Banks. It's an agonizing chore to listen to Flip.

Enh, agree to disagree I guess. ROTM is a pretty average album IMO. In fact, off the top I can't even think of 1 song on that album.

Even if we count that album as good, dude's track record after HNIC is still awful.
