Saw this earlier today....

t's the second coming of Rachel Dolezal.

Shaun King, a prominent leader in the Black Lives Matter movement, may have just been outed as a white man.

Boasting a vast following on Twitter, a title as justice columnist for a social progressive website, and acquiring a full-ride college scholarship from Oprah Winfrey to Morehouse (an award designated for black men, the site alleged) are the markings which have made King, 35, a go-to source for breaking news on police brutality against African-Americans around the country.

Rest of article in link

He's refuted all the claims, which you can read here:

https://twitter.com/shaunking

Interesting situation all around, if you ask me.

Now, Breitbart (link to the King findings in NYDN article that was linked above) is a conservative news outlet, so maaaybe we should take their findings w/ a grain of salt....but some of the evidence that they came up with is certainly damning towards King. Especially if his whole persona is built off of a huge lie.

Stay tuned....

Smear job, that site (Breitbart) is nothing but a right wing rag. He's calling them out on their lies.

Hmm and Rachel Doezal should get together and make beautiful black children.

At the end of day the easiest way to make this story die is to show a family picture. Simple.

I don't care. I am a fan of his work.

If he has been using support money for personal use then I have an issue.

If you read between the lines of what he said today, it's fairly obvious that he's mixed. His tweets about how no sibling of his has the same 2 parents, how his family history is painful and how it includes divorce, affairs, etc. makes that pretty obvious, IMO.

Maybe he can't show a family picture because he doesn't know who is biological father is? Maybe his alleged white dad decided to take on that dad role even though his wife stepped out?

There are a handful of scenarios that are plausible here, to be honest. Everyone just wants to see things as black or white (no pun intended). I mean, look at dude--isn't it pretty obvious that he's not fully black?

No. But the controversy is thar he doesn't have any black parents. I think hes saying his dad is black but that apparently that isn't the case according to that blogger that broke the story.

What blogger? That Vicki lady? Look into her history. She's a racist pig with a clear agenda to push. Ironically, you two probably share a lot of the same views, but that's neither here nor there.

So a blogger from wherever she's from knows for certain that the white guy is his birth dad? I understand his name may be on the birth certificate, but that doesn't really prove anything.

It's interesting to me that majority of the people bashing him are white. They clearly are trying to distract black people from the real issues. Shame that some black people are falling for the BS.

Why take it with a grain of salt? Beyond the racial controversy, he's been accused of stealing money intended for Haiti, Trayvon Martin and Tamir Rice. He's a con artist who can't keep his story straight. There are tweets that show his own inconsistencies in the number of children he has among others. He had a meltdown and in all of those tweets he just couldn't say he was black or post a picture from his childhood.

And he's been confronted by black people as well. When it was discovered Tamir Rice's body was still unclaimed at the morgue and that his mother was living in a homeless shelter, people began asking questions.

Why does he have to prove his racial background though? Like who is he proving this to and why? If he was 100% white (which I think is pretty obvious that he's not), would it invalidate all of his work? Would it discredit the truths that he's been pretty vocal about regarding police brutality and white supremacy in America?

Also, I've been hearing about him taking money for almost as long as he's been in the public eye. Why can't anyone prove it? I'm opposed to him doing something like that for sure, but where's the concrete proof? Until we see some proof, it's nothing but internet hearsay that is coming mostly from conservative, white folks.

Personally, I don't blame him for not caving to public pressure to prove his background. If he knows he's mixed, his family knows he's mixed and his friends know he's mixed, well, then he's mixed. I don't think he owes anyone anything in that regard.

His racial background shouldn't discredit his work regarding police brutality and white supremacy.  However, it certainly raises a question as to his personal experiences with racism growing up - like in the case of Rachel Dolezal.

I'm not taking sides I was simply stating what I've read. I don't know the blogger but if you call her a racist pig than I take it as an insult that you say I share similar views yo her. Personal attacks are not needed.

He could be white and down to help Black people. No one would mind having allies outside of the race that are genuine about it. The founders of the NAACP and most HBCUs were white. There were many white allies during the Civil Rights Movement.

If he's ashamed that his mother was mixed by a black guy and he's the byproduct then that's on him. The problem with him is he's a habitual liar. It isn't a white conservative accusation when it comes to his fibs. You chose to ignore my post on Rice and Martin. Like Deray, he's profited off of black pain.
