So on Monday I printed a shipping label (priority 2 day), slapped it on the box, and gave it to my mailman. The thing is that the mailman didnt bother to scan the item upon pickup. Its been 2 days and the tracking hasnt updated since "shipping label created". Now the buyer is flooding me with emails and calling me a scammer, and there not much i can say. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried? Im like tripping right now cuz the shoes i sent were pretty $$$.

It could take a few days and could end up being delivered. I've had packages not get scanned til delivery

Happened to me when I sold a pair of my shoes a few months ago. The mailman didn't scan them when he took them or when they were delivered :smh:

Luckily the buyer was cool enough to call ebay and paypal and the post office to let them know he got the shoes...dude could've easily said he never got them and kept the shoes and money  Dude would've came up on $450 and a pair of Kobe 9 MPs

OP you're probably gonna have to go to the post office and talk to the postmaster.

I'd at least try calling the destination's local post office and asking them to run the tracking number in their computer

Don't call in the AM though, they'll be slammed trying to get mail out and take care of customers first, so they're less helpful I've noticed.

Going to the post office to talk to a postmaster will not help unfortunately.
Between him picking it up and going out for distribution, it's like a needle in a haystack.
Also there are a lot of plants being consolidated and "missing" scans has become an issue.
Contact consumer affairs and they will create a work order. They should contact you with updates and will talk to the carrier and possibly relay information to the planet. You can complain to a station manager or next step up which is a postmaster but nothing will happen to the carrier unless you get a postal inspector involved which will open a whole can of worms. Only resort to that if you feel it was stolen/lost.
In this order:
Call Consumer Affairs
Talk to a Station Manager/PostMaster
Talk To Inspector
Inform the buyer of the situation and try to reason the best why you can because the post office is going through major changes.
Also you have to consider 200% of Amazon packages move through us.
Ups and FedEx drop 85% of their parcel with us as well..
Leaving Priority and First Class Mail as a redheaded step child of service.
I'm almost done with my doctorate and looking to leave this failed business model.
I'm a carrier and I have tons of stories.
Hope you get it resolved[emoji]9996[/emoji][emoji]127999[/emoji]️

@mugen81  i talked to my normal carrier today and she said that if the package was picked up by a carrier and not scanned intiially, the tracking wont be updated till it reaches the destination sorting center or something. True or no?

Yes and no.
She is right that it should update at the destination plant/sort.
But we have new scanners that are "supposed" to keep up with the likes of FedEx and Ups.
Were she is wrong is that even though he didn't do a pick up scan, the next scan should have happened with outgoing mail/first distribution center.
If the carrier had did it right:
Label created
Packaged Picked Up
Next scan would have been at intial distribution
Another Scan at the delivery hub
A local scan at that post office
And last scan will be for when the package leaves for delivery.
The thing is right now, even though it's 2-day priority, mail is being held at certain plants due to consolidating and running different routes. It's a big cluster duck right now.
I've had personal packages from Bodega that were 2-day priority re routed and took three days.
A lot of missed scans are happening due to the fact that Amazon is basically keeping us afloat which in essence is stupid and shortsighted because they are talking about opening their own distribution and delivery service. So basically we are cutting our nose to spite our face and hurting our customers in the manor you are going through. Plus you probably gave your package to a CCA and they over work the duck out of them to the point a lot of them don't care or, sorry to tell you this, they end up stealing or throwing mail away.
It's just a sad situation all around not only at USPS but I know a couple of UPS Drivers and they are going through some of the same damn things.

This is one of the reasons I drop off all packages now. Had this happen one too many times.

Mugen why do you say the amazon is causing missed scans..
Agree with what you're saying about how stupid our corporate decision makers are but I don't see Amazon affecting scans at LV P&DC

Just call up USPS and have them put a tracker on it. They will try and locate through some picture that gets scanned in their system. I deal with this on a daily basis. Might take some time to get an update though.

My distract is having a hard time with scans.
Every stand up talk we have is about scanning and 99% of the complaints are about Amazon.
Amazon is practically all our money( even though that stupid bill passed back during the Bush Administration) as you know, has hurt a lot of moral and money.
But I just feel(at least out here) Amazon scans seem to be such a bigger priority then our products because we have so much faith in there business and it's really hurting our bottom line. There should be no reason why we are delaying first class or priority(but I can tell you my station hasn't seen any drop in volume).
Plus I still don't understand why we don't charge for each pick up like our competitors. A lot of people(not saying you OP) take advantage of pick up and postage.
But that's a different rant for another day[emoji]128518[/emoji][emoji]128518[/emoji]
Also they can't put trackers on our packages, if they could then we wouldn't have so many misdeliveries, lost packages, letters.
From the outside looking in, people feel things shouldn't be this hard.
My job is not hard at all and I do enjoy it but it's a lot of politics, procedures, nepotism, corruption, inept people running this business into the ground.

Good Info

my story.....

Same situation as OP

I used to hand items to my Mailman, but once I gave him a CAV EMPT tee to deliver, and it never showed up on the tracking.

I believe the package was delivered, and I was dealing with a dishonest buyer because they kept asking for another item to replace the CAV EMPT ITEM

only post thats worth it in here

If he was honest that's probably gonna scan at another post office in the receivers city.

So it's only been 2 days and the buyer is already flipping out? I've noticed the USPS scanning issues a lot lately. I've dropped off packages and they don't get scanned. There's no movement until it reaches the destination city.

this is why i hate selling sneakers online. i can sell other stuff online, higher end items as well too and the buyers have a reasonable sense of patience.

you sell a pair of sneakers at 5pm on a saturday and you'll be getting hounded with 3 "did you ship messages" a few hours apart by sunday, as well with a bunch of other questions after you shipped and their waiting to receive the shoes.

this isn't a one time thing as well, perhaps its the crowd who predominately purchases sneakers, young kids and teenagers, but you get some of the least patient, impulsive buyers who don't understand how shipping an item works when selling sneakers online.

Yeah there needs to be a better way to sell sneakers man.

Sellers have to jump through so many hoops just to satisfy their buyer, get paid, stay paid, get good feedback.

It's ridiculous.

I always go the consignment route with FCNY, and while I have a solid rapport with them, no complaints whatsoever, it gets tiresome breaking off 20% just to avoid the hassle of selling sneakers yourself.

 Sometimes I want all that money.

Tangentially related....I think a neighbor stole my packages.

Had amazon deliver one-day free shipping in NYC and the site says delivered, but no packages in sight.  Decently heated because I had $100 worth of stuff in the packages, and I JUST moved in.

^ call amazon

They've replaced my brothers order in full before when it was stolen off his porch

didn't even get the Post office involved.

see if you can get stuff sent to work / held at the post office if you're worried about it happening again
