NT's All Time NBA ReDraft Thread: GR8 Write Up Page 187, Bracket Final Vote

At shooting and having an adorable daughter, yes.

Nothing more.

He never did anything close to what Curry did this last season, yall got nostalgia blinders.

I can't even believe that's an argument.

If he was better, he woulda been picked earlier, it's not like he ain't known and Malone got picked a while ago.

Stockton was extremely consistent for many years and his longevity is incredible but Curry right now is better than Stockton ever was.

Nostalgia glasses? Clearly you're posting with a pacifier in your mouth

Exactly, I respect Stockton's body of work but his peak was never even close to what Steph is right now.

He was never going to be MVP and the best player on a team that won the Finals

so are you guys drafting on body of work or peak?

are there even rules to this ish??????

LTB, if you need to bounce, PM me your guy (or 2 to be safe) and I will take care of it when SoHi pulls thru.

Isiah Thomas is a player I have difficulty with, I know the narratives, I've seen the games, and I love the legend but that stats are sooooo underwhelming, and so different than the perception.

No ones ever offered a satisfying explanation for why the numbers underrate him.

It strikes me as "best offensive player + famous team = given way way way to much credit for the teams overall success."

Similar to Iverson's MVP year.

*shrugs*

Jazz literally had no one else outside of Malone to carry their team, so Stockton's elite shooting and ability was not shown enough. He regularly proved himself unwilling and/or incapable of volume shooting to any serious level, certainly not capable of consistently scoring at the volumes necessary to float an offense without finishers. He was an efficient scorer, a HIGHLY efficient scorer, but he came up short in the playoffs on a fairly regular basis as well.

Whatever/however people want to build their roster. One season. 3 year peak, overall career, whatever. There really is no wrong way to go about this. Merely a draft/value/debate exercise.

Is he better than Chris Paul though?

but at the end of the day people are voting on the winning team

so no one cares if you think you know more than everyone else about basketball and go with the unpopular pick

if you want to win always pick the wow factor player
I don't even wanna pick...

It was all Stockton for me there.

There is no consultation in my head.

So disheartened
Check your PM.

No, I'm not giving him names, y'all. But a strategy? Yes.

Older guys SWEAR by IT. They praise him to no end for being the "little guy" that could carry a team. And MJ hated him, that kinda says somethin to me about him. I know that's trivial, just from everything I've ever witnessed NBA wise.

No rules to judging or drafting, that's part of the whole experience. Of course it'll lead to countless arguments of "X was better than Y in their primes, but Y was better overall" and so on.

For example, I considered longevity when I picked Duncan over Bird. Duncan has 500 more games and over 11,000 more minutes than Bird. Now some might not pay as much attention to longevity and prefer a guy who was dominant over a shorter period of time but was plagued with injuries later on in their career.

But when you're looking at an all-time team, most of us won't think "Well Bird wasn't as good for as long as Duncan" you'll just imagine their primes... so yeah
