NT's All Time NBA ReDraft Thread: GR8 Write Up Page 187, Bracket Final Vote

Really didn't want to get into a Chris Paul debate in this thread, but since you are continuing to post about it, I will give you my one response.

Most specifically to the bolded.....

Chris Paul fans always point to his numbers and say it proves some of us wrong.  Lets look at game 7 of the Rockets series where the Clips were eliminated.  Chris Paul had 26 points and 10 assists.  Great numbers right?  Numbers that prove us all wrong right?

CP had 3 huge turnovers early in that game that lead to the Rockets building a huge lead.  Once the Rockets went up big (where Chris did very little to this point), he started to become assertive and put up numbers.  11 of his 26 points and 7 of his 10 assists came after the Rockers were up by 20 points late in the second half.  Looking strictly at his numbers, he had a good game.  If you actually watched the game and saw how timid, uninterested, and pathetic he was for 3 quarters in a game 7, you would no longer be impressed by his overall numbers in that game.

Oh but 26 and 10 in an elimination game!  He puts up #s!!!!

Undeniable fax B.

Considering the circumstances in that game 7 he was the best player for them in that game. By a good margin too, and actually chopped the lead down. Without him they might've gotten smoked by 40.

After they're picked I'll dive into this. But yea they could do anything Paul has done and did it when it mattered most.

If they could, they would have his #'s but they don't.

There's also a reason they haven't been picked and he was.

guys that went to the finals have won more than CP ever has, yes. it's factual.

You don't get it, that's why I'm laughing.

Their teams went, yall have to learn that individual greatness =/= team success.

I'm willing to bet every pg you're thinking of played for more talented squads and never did as much on the court as Paul.

I can't put him at 2nd best ever. I can name 3 guys I saw that were better. I don't care about the numbers, those guys were winners.
This. I can definitely pick 3 PGs I would take over CP3 in the playoffs.
The allure is that he's the second best at his position ever.

Listen I consider myself a CP3 fan. I am not one to blame him for all of his playoff shortcomings, but 2nd best all time? *****. You are either wildly overrating CP3 or vastly underrating some legends... Probably both.

Also, I have had a good time following along in this thread but yall should specify one particular season in which you are drafting each player. Most of these dudes had such vasts careers and there games varied differently from when they started until when it ended. Players like MJ or Kobe are perfect examples, but most players with long career have this effect as well, in which they improve some areas of their games overtime but lose a step in other areas.

It would make it a lot easier to evaluate which teams are the best as a whole if each player drafted came with a specific season that makes him the best possible fit for each team within the context of the other players drafted around him.

youre acting like this clippers team wasn't supposed to be the 2nd best team in the west this year. and they collapsed. his hornets teams, that's fine they overachieved mostly. but he has 0 excuses for not doing more with guy from oklahoma.

and 1 guy played on an average team, but we'll get the he played in the east excuse to discredit him.

Clippers had a monumental collapse this season against a team they were better than. A lot of that falls on CP3 as their leader and best player. And alot of players sacrifice individual numbers for the greater good of the team. Particularly point guards. That just an asinine comment to say if they were as good/better than CP3 they would put up better #s.

Without him putting up those #'s, his teams don't win hence the absurdly high amount of win shares.

But yea sure, those guys were sacrificing for their teams by not performing better than him.

They could've easily put up Paul's historic #'s but they chose to win, I get it.

You acting like they didn't beat the defending champions in the 1st round and CP3 didn't hit the GW shot in Game 7.

They collapsed against the Rockets for sure, but if you really going to act like that's all on Paul then that's foolish.

Spurs were an old and broken down team this year. They weren't the same as last year. That young star that plays SF was atrocious in Games 5, 6, 7. That helped the Clippers.

Chris Paul talk derailed the thread a bit, Ecook is up for Essential because he won't have time this redraft.

Then it's @PMatic  twice and it swings back around

If everyone can make sure to get into the habit of @ the next person (or couple of people if possible) or hitting them up on Twitter so we can be sure they were alerted. By all means we can discuss and talk, but let's keep it moving too.

This is like the basketball version of when shoeking said modern rap > 90s rap

Kids try too hard to feel like their generation is the best generation

Cp3 is not even a top 3 pg since the 90s

And just so everyone understands how the game of basketball works, the goal is to win
