Had fun with this draft guys. My initial plan was to take David Robinson and then Penny Hardaway in the 2nd round, but I was thinking GP would've been taken before I picked. Once both players were taken, I decided to go with a tough, hard nosed squad.

PG Gary Payton
SG Brandon Roy
SF Ron Artest
PF Karl Malone
C Marcus Camby
B Anthony Mason
B Terry Porter
B Hedo Turkoglu
B Doug Christie
B John Starks
B Tree Rollins
B Juan Carlos Navarro

1st pick - Karl Malone

You could argue he could've went higher, but he was definitely a 1st round pick in an all-time draft. Career numbers speak for themselves. 2x MVP, 11x All NBA 1st team, 3x All Defense 1st team, made other All NBA teams 3x and another All Defense 2nd team. #2 in points amongst all NBA players. Career numbers of 25 / 10 / 3.6 / 1.4 / 0.8 on 52% shooting. Nothing wrong with starting your team off with that type of production.

2nd pick - Gary Payton

I felt like taking Stockton here was so predictable, but I wanted to go change things up a bit. I looked at GP / Malone during their short Laker stint and always wondered how good that duo would've been in their primes. This is what led me into taking The Glove. Probably the best defensive point guard in the NBA til this day and always loved his competitive nature. He may not be the passer Stockton was, but he was pretty damn good. I wanted a PG that was capable of guarding 1's and 2's.

3rd pick - Brandon Roy

One of the toughest players to guard when healthy and was considered right on par with DWade during his healthy stint behind Kobe. He could've been a very special player. I felt he was a nice complement piece in the backcourt with GP because 1) he could also handle the ball, 2) he could shoot the 3 at a good rate, 3) he didn't have to guard the other teams best perimeter player, 4) i would probably rather put the ball in his hands late in games to get me a game winner. Basically a 25 / 5 / 5 threat on any given night.

I'll probably do my last two starters later.

The bench

I wanted my bench mob to be no different than my starters, except with a few specialists. Defensive mindset, toughness, but a little more versatile. My bench has 6 players capable of handling the basketball. I really wanted Anthony Mason due to his versatility on defense and ability to handle the ball. If I were coaching this team today, I would use a lot of lineups featuring Mason at the 5 spot. Something like Porter / Roy / Artest or Christie / Turkoglu / Mason . Give him enough guys that are capable of spreading the floor and run.

I'm sorry but LOL @ CP thinking you could get Steph in the FOURTH round and that one of the best big man defenders of all time would last until the 8th, that OVER TWO HUNDRED PLAYERS would go before Ben Wallace. Even Korver going in the 12th was crazy to me.

I mean, I had a few guys I was super hopeful would last until X round, but some of those are awesome

I know it was more of a guideline, but just some of those names were not lasting that long, not a chance.

PG - Derrick Rose / Jason Williams
SG - Clyde Drexler/ Danny Green / JJ Reddick
SF - Jimmy Butler / Giannis Antetokounmpo
PF - Anthony Davis / Nikola Vucevic
C - Yao Ming / DeAndre Jordan / Hassan Whiteside

Really not sure how much more balanced a team could be

Really dope squad, one of my favorites.

Not a lot of shooting in the starting lineup but you Green and Reddick off the bench is nice.
