Anyone here do 100 hour work weeks regularly?

the 40-hour five day work week makes no sense to me...Friday's (depending on the industry) are a lot of nothing, and people just sit there...

i prefer the 40-hour four day week (depending on the industry)...

Yeah 4 day 40 hour work week is the best. I use too work 4 10 hr nights and loved it. I wish I could work that again.

No, and I never will. After 50 hours it's not even worth it anymore.

I'm salary and I get OT for any time over 40 hrs I put.

I've never known 1 person on salary that got overtime no matter if they worked 42 hours or 90 hours

Let me clarify. I don't get the 1.5x(hr) pay for every hour after 40 I work, but I do get what my hourly wage would be for every hour over 40. What do you call that if you wanted to get technical? straight time, I guess.

That's still good you get that.  Most people are getting their set yearly salary no matter how many hours they're putting in.  I mean depending on the company they might get performance bonuses etc. but the yearly salary is for all their time even if its 100 hour weeks

I've averaged around 105 hrs per week this summer. Investment banking is no joke :smh:

Off to business school out in the west coast though. Won't have to deal with those crazy hours for the next 2 years.

Did you feel like the 105 hours per week was worth it though?  Is it something you can see doing long term?

Have to have a balance especially working for someone, couldn't imagine working over 50 hours a week. 50 is a stretch, I put in may 35 to 42 a week.

If I had my own business (which I'm working towards), I'd put in whatever it takes to be successful.

Yeah, I know that's usually the case and it was definitely a welcomed surprise when I moved to this company. My wife used to work similar hours as a salaried employee but they changed a lot of people from to hourly a couple years ago and it's definitely working in her/our favor.

No such thing as a 40 hour work week

I usually put in between 50-60...can't even imagine 100. Quality of work is probably **** and there is probably a coke dependency as well

I'm salary and in game development so the hours are tricky. I would guess I'm working about 10-12 hours a day 5/6 days a week. When I was in programming I would consistently do 12-14 hours straight 5/6 days a week. When we were in crunch for submission, I went for 21 days straight without a day off at one point and was sleeping/showering in the studio.

I'm in production now and have a flexible work schedule. I can really work any time I want but have multiple daily meetings that everyone has to attend in studio or via VC/Skype. I do a lot of communication between our creative teams, outsourced help, and our publisher during the day but I'm not really busting my *** until their work day is done, which is generally around 7:00 PM. So I usually come in around 9/10:00 AM, leave around 4:30/5:00 and come back at 8/9:00 PM. I then review everything and have some informal creative meetings and then usually do all my "heavy lifting" work from 10:00 PM to 1 AM setting up for the next day. Some days I just sit in the studio all day/night rather than drive home and come back :smh:

Honestly, it feels like I'm never not working due to the fact I'm always communicating via e-mail back to Japan and Europe.

It was absolutely worth it IMO. I was in Investment Banking for the last 5 years and I've learned more in those 5 years than I've ever learned while formally being in school. The skills, tools and lessons learned on the job helped me with every facet of my life. People ask me all the time if I could, would I go back and do something else. My answer has always been no. It was tough in the beginning and at the expense of having a personal life, but the benefits outweighed the negatives.

I've met some incredible people and had a chance to also see the world. Plus, the money was great. But only when I got to spend it

I'm salary as well. But at my job, they have incentives where you can work ot. But the hourly rate drops and is only $31 an hour. That's not even straight time pay. How the hell they came up with that amount, I don't know. But, I'm cool. Haha

Yeah man, that sucks. These companies just don't want to look out for their employee's for nothing. I guess that they're a "business" but still...

I work 85 - 100 hour work weeks regularly. Investment banking.

How do people work that many hours? Addy? Coffee? Other type of drugs? Can you take a nap nap?

Some people are into that stuff and some people just grind it out. IB is a lot easier now than what it was when I started. There's protected weekends and mandatory time off now.

Back then you'd be on call 24/7.

Is that due to the intern death a few years back (I think it was in IB)?
