Should Drake get his Own Signature Line?

Drake should get his own signature line imo. There's alot of things going for Drizzy right now and Nike should capitalize on his popularity.

1. Drake's popularity is at an all-time high right now. He's been consistently putting out hits for the past 5 years with no signs of slowing down.

2. His OVO collaborations with JB look awesome and they're probably gonna sell out instantly.

3. Giving Drake his own sig line would be a good move to counter Yeezy's popularity with Adidas.

Thoughts?
 
Drake should definitely get his own line for various reasons. His popularity and fanbase is insane, you could compete Kanye collection with Adidas, also you put that owl on shirts or polos and everyone will own one.
 
Of-coarse they should. Kids are growing up idolizing this guy. He's going to be Nike's next poster-child like Kanye and people are going to go ape-shiit crazy for his merchandise. Not me though, my gen idolized Jordan.

Agreed. People initially hated on Drake for being soft but it seems like recently, he's starting to get his own loyal, Kanye-like fanbase.
 
Nike has never needed endorsements from singers or rappers before so why now? It obviously didn't make commercial sense to renew the contract with Kanye. Drake is another polarising guy and this is coming from someone who actually likes his music.
 
Nike doesnt need Drake nor does Drake need Nike but it would be mutually beneficial for both parties.

That being said, a sig series wont happen. The OVO stuff coming out is cool though.
 
I don't think that Drake should get a line but like Picasso Swerve was saying I think it would be smart to drop some OVO stuff. That gold owl is nasty. Wouldn't mind getting some nike release roshes or AF1 OVO's that aren't customized/painted since I don't want to pay a crap ton of money just to paint a gold owl.
 
Nike has never had anyone that has huge outside of sports and with Drake they have the second most relevant person in hip hop culture behind Kanye, it'll be stupid to not give him his own line with Jordan. He got all these young kids wearing timberlands all year round now and dressing like him no matter what he wears or does. It'll be interesting to see Adidas and Nike compete with each other in something other than sports but instead in adidas realm of expertise which is hip hop culture streetwear. Nike took over the world cup while it was sponsored by adidas it'll be funny to see the owl jump over the yeezy.
 
Just buy women's Jays or women's Nike's, look the same to me. Full of fluff and glitter.
 
If JB didn't let Kanye have his own branding they're probably not going to allow Drake to have his own either. Unless the next few OVO Jordans have more interesting colors and design choices I don't see how Drake's going to compete with someone like Kanye. Kanye's designs are usually different enough that I understand the hype around them, but these OVO 8s and 10s aren't really impressing me. I still want those 10s though.
 
I think JB would do it for the fact that Adidas now has Kanye and because of Kanye Adidas has beaten nike out this First quarter money wise and they will do so again this quarter cause of the 350. So I think for Competition sake and beating them at their own game they'll do it for drake.

Do you have any sources for that? These two sources confirm that is Nike number one in athletic footwear sales.

Also why wouldn't they just continue to drop limited items signed off on by Drake? He's not a designer so why give him his own line?

The name association with Drake and the hype that comes from him are obviously good for JB, but I'm not sure it makes sense to keep him around for anything other than that. Besides what're they going to do after they put an owl on a bunch of shoes and t-shirts?

I'm saying this for competition sake and to prove Adidas something. Pretty much everything you can do i can do better mentality. 

I know he's not a designer but putting that little owl on apparel and footwear will sellout no matter the price, the merchandise on his is expensive but it sells out, so imagine a winter or spring collection JB x OVO that would be utterly insane. Now drake also dates Serena Williams and she has her own tennis shoe thats going to be released via NikeLab (i think) put a little owl on those bad boys and those shoes won't sit anywhere on earth. 

Adidas has it easy with Kanye if they do not capitalize on this correctly they just as dumb as they were when they did not want MJ, so JB drops a line for Drake and completely blow them out the water, expect the unexpected. 
 
If they didn't give kamye one why would they give him one?
