Is it degrading to refer to women as "females"?

I saw some argument on twitter saying when a man refers to women as females it's dehumaizing because it's not specific to humans... it's like basically calling a woman the B word... is that true or are females just being sensitive?

If you were with your girl out with another couple or with friends and you were referring to a woman would you say "female"?

Just say woman or girl.

Its just the over sensitive world we live in. You can't saying without someone taking offense to it.  Anyone can find something wrong with any statement and make it a big deal.

I use female. Wouldn't care if someone called me a male, that male, etc.

I can understand how it can be taken the wrong way... when I read the argument I thought of

but shouldn't a person be more concerned of the generalization of their sex vs. being called women/girls/females. all the same **** to me

A random argument on Twitter = Society/The world is sensitive

an example of this sensitive society, do you need anymore examples

Brah you can post example until your fingers bleed.

I'm not going to concede that all of a sudden all of society has just turned sensitive.

People have opinions, they always had opinions, the internet just have given them an outlet for it.

And too me it goes both ways, they got folk that get outraged a lot, and folk that get outraged over people getting outrage

I go through the day and interact with a ton of different people. I have disagreements all the time and unless someone is completely belligerent/delusional finding common ground with folk is pretty easy.

I used to talk to this super feminist (i say this with respect lol) girl who called me out on it once. She dead used to cringe when i would say it and i never knew why until she couldn't help it and explained why she didn't like it.

But basically it's like whenever we talk about a woman in an 'uncharacteristic' way society has this subconscious need to point out her sex by calling her a female.

For example - one night you're out with your friends and one of your boys gets into a bar fight and gets washed by a woman, we're most likely to go around telling the story like "yoooooo _____ got beat up by a female" where as if it was a male we would just be like " yoooooo ______ got beat up by some dude"

Im not saying its degrading but its different.

Example.

Youre on the train going to a job interview. ...lady accidentally spills a lil bit of her coffee on ya shirt.

You go to the interview and the person interviewing you is a woman.

Shes like

"What happened to your shirt?"

U gonna say
"Oh this female on the train spilled some coffee on it"

You could....but its different than woman...lady.

I've notice dudes use "female" as a replaced for the b-word a lot now.

I've heard that "female" is degrading because it is a gender term non-specific to humans...

there are female dogs, elephants, alligators, etc....

so by using a term that defines their sex with no reference to their humanity,...

you are downplaying the essence of what makes them a person
