The NBA Draft Thread

I don't tlike a single player in this draft, none of these guys.

It really blows that Knicks decided to gift us a lottery pick in this ****** draft.

I think Reddick (the way he;s played this year especially) is how I expect Buddy to be in the league.

Maybe a modern equivalent of Rip Hamilton with three's replacing mid-range jumpers.

only player im sold on and know what im going to get out of him is Brice Johnson. thats it. everybody else is a toss up.

i like Ingram but he is going to struggle the first couple years.

Damn Osh said F it  ...maybe a team will be thirsty for somebody and Raptors can flip the pick to a future draft

I feel the same way bout the Magic's pick , doubt see anybody in the range that their picking that's gon make a difference other than being s lottery pick in name only

If I'm a GM, even if the top 2, if the offer is right and it includes a pick in next years draft I'm interested.... HEAVILY

So we are THIS low on Ben Simmons huh?

look kid is special, has special abilities but what if he goes to the 6ers?

Hard to imagine what a better James Anderson is. Wasn't he a defender? I forget

A better version of a player (in my ex. Hield will be a better version of James Anderson) is me saying I think he has the similarities with regards to physical tools but a better chance to succeed because of everything you can see that's not basketball.

He simply will power through cold halves and hasn't - outside of that Texas game in Big XII tournament - allowed it to extend beyond that to an entire game from the different instances where the situation presented itself this season. He score 20+ points (has shown on multiple occasions in the NCAA tourney - VCU, etc. - and outside the NCAA tourney - TCU in reg. season, Iowa State in the quarterfinal round of the Big XII tournament - the quick turnaround from stretches in which he's not playing well don't seem to linger for him.

I won't typically dissect an intangible but it's visible, tangible that he doesn't fear looking bad, in fact, he'll work harder to overcome it. The adversity throughout his first few years in the NBA as he tries to adapt to the premier talent, talent that'll certainly be profound for him seeing as how he's in his fourth year at Oklahoma against 18/19/20 year olds for the most part when he'll soon be facing 27/28/29 year olds. That's the same for everyone, sure, but the freshmen drafted around him on the board will have been leveling up annually - more recently AND for the second time in the past two years. Whereas Hield's last time leveling up in competition was coming out of high school a half decade ago.

On-court similarities:

Both tore up (won POY awards) competition from the same, exact conference (both had seasons of 50% FG% and 40% 3pt%) meaning you can compare the caliber of talent they're facing on a game-in and out basis and draw parallels in terms of how good is it to average those percentages against that specific conference's perimeter defenders comparatively to other conf.'s, some of the similar coaches and how they deploy their defenses like Self, Barnes (both faced Barnes' Texas teams prior to him getting ousted), etc.

Both players' defensive acumen fly under the radar pre-draft because of their scoring ability that put them on the scene for most people unless you were watching 2010 Oklahoma State and this year's Oklahoma team game after game.

Both upperclassman players that dominated, yet, both had seasons outside of that where their shooting percentages weren't great at all

Both players 6'4-6'5 (DX has J.Anderson has 6'4.5 w/o shoes, Hield's listed at 6'4 on all the sites we'll see what the Combine indicates)

Both players' draft stocks went from second-round pick at the beginning of the season to lottery-to-No. 30 range and finally in the top-20 selections of the (and this one is a coincidence: but both had their best games against a Kansas Jayhawks ranked No. 1 overall in the country at the time their teams matched up against the Jayhawks/Self)

And for the guy from earlier, their mobility and movement is incredibly alike as well.

Is it worse than 2013 draft in terms of quality?

**** no.

Its over & not in a good way. We gotta unload all those big men just for dude to develop right. I rather have Ingram at this point. Saric & Embiid coming next yr so i dont see no room or need for anymore bigs unless theyre role players. WE NEED GUARDS & WINGS

If he can stay healthy he has that ceiling. Im just scared they'll trade Oak & he'll end up being a star whild Embiid just continues to be injured smh

Where's the wealth of knowledge on Dario Saric and his own transition to say there's no room for Simmons, etc.?

If Simmons comes to philly we immediately stop tanking.( like we would have done had we received the number 1 draft pick the last few years.) We draft Simmons trade Noel or Oakafor.( I Still need time figuring which one.) And we start to add mid-level FA's for this season to help Simmons grow and restore some faith in other FA's we're finally ready to proceed. Embid and saric are bonuses right now. If there here next year cool if not I'm ready to move forward with Simmons as the guy.

I think the plan to stop tanking commenced when Jerry Colangelo was hired.

I really feel it Didn't matter who was hired. This was going to be the last year regardless. The fan base and management wasn't letting this go on another year. Hopefully we land Simmons and make all this somewhat worth it.
