The NBA Draft Thread

If you want another Jeff Green then draft Tatum. Green actually might be much better.
Tatum and Jeff green have nothing in common on the offensive end of the court expect more work needed on the trey ball. Outside of that green can't touch Tatum in the half court.

I am. Tatum falls right into that tier of tweener forwards that will just be mediocre in the NBA (Green, Beasley, and every other bust with the same measurements without being elite at anything).

  • My major concern with Monk was his last point exactly: "Overall, what does this guy do other than score? If the shots aren't falling how is he producing?"
  • I agree with Ballinsam23 about Tatum fitting the Beasley, Derrick Williams mold.
  • Josh Jackson's "weaknesses" actually proves that he has a high floor.
  • Seems like Dennis Smith is slipping hard. Might actually end up in Dallas.
  • I never really understood the hype on Lauri and still don't. I see his ceiling being Ryan Anderson and floor...well I think Channing Frye is fair.l Which isn't bad, but not for a top 8 pick.

I've seen Tatum hit enough threes and take enough guys off the dribble to know he's not just a mid-range shooter. Teams will regret passing on him.

It's just so funny to me that people in here hate on Tatum so much because of the jump shots he takes yet Paul George, Hayward and Derozan play very similar and are the best player on each of their playoff teams. I watch all of them take a **** ton of these contested step back jumpers that you guys hate on Tatum for taking.

I said this before about Zach Collins, but in what world does a 7ft athlete with solid basketball instinct have a reasonable chance at being an solid NBA starter?

Zach Collins has a chance, it will be up to him and the team to reach his potential.

I stand by the smaller Tobias Harris comp for Jason Tatum.

Same here. Games are eerily similar. And I mean the more perimeter oriented/slim downed Tobias Harris we've seen in the NBA.

Tatum is very much like Tobias Harris to me. Which is a good thing imo.

You're comparing a tweener to elite level athletes on the wing. He's not going to be able to get those shots off like they do. Minus Hayward of course, but Hayward is a better athlete than him too.

Yeah, doesn't make much sense to compare Tatum to them. Jackson's athleticism is more similar to those guys.

Tatum is not a tweener, he's a true small forward. And you are insane if you think Hayward was anywhere close to the athlete Tatum is when he was coming out of college. PG and Derozan may be more athletic than Tatum but how often do they actually use it during games? All three of these guys are primarily jump shooters that occasionally use their athleticism to get to the rack.

You dudes can say what you want about him but I think Tatum has the talent to eventually be on the same level as these guys and be a star in the league.

Being skinny with baggy jersey doesn't mean he wasn't athletic

I watched him play plenty of times in college, I wasn't saying to judge by the picture. Butler ran the slowest offense possible and I never once saw Hayward make a move I would consider explosive.

you letting his lack of melanin fool you.

This guy was a better athlete right here than Tatum is right now? That comment is laughable.
You are letting the fact hat he is white and skinny cloud your judgment. He had a 34.5" vert at the combine. Just because he played in a system that slowed the game down doesn't mean he wasn't a good athlete.
