The NBA Draft Thread

One thing I do like about Tatum though is that he showed crazy improvement as the season went on.

Solid point. Out of everyone on the top 10 list, I do agree that he improved the most while Monk and Smith kind of regressed at the end of the season.

Watch this video. Are you telling me that he all of the sudden just developed this athleticism out of nowhere?

Go watch his Butler highlights video that's on YouTube as well. You'll see a couple of blocks, a couple dunks you'd see at your average men's league and a bunch of jumpers.

Yes. Saying Gordon Hayward is athletic means he's as athletic as John Wall.

Brilliance.

We're comparing freshman Jayson Tatum to freshman Gordon Hayward...not Hayward after two years of college and in his 7th year of the NBA in case you needed a reminder. This dude said it was "laughable" that I said Hayward back at Butler wasn't the athlete that Tatum is right now.

Jayson Tatum Fits a Classically Overrated Player Archetype

"Yet, I do think Hayward is a clear notch above Tatum as an athlete, and it even showed up in his college numbers. In Hayward’s sophomore season he shot a stellar 59.2% from two, which suggests he could finish athletically and stretch his usage in a way Tatum’s 50.4% does not. Hayward was also the better rebounder on both ends of the floor (7.6% offensive rebound rate vs. 4.8%, 23.4% defensive rebound rate vs. 19.7%), and got to the free throw line a fair amount more (.536 career free throw rate vs. Tatum’s .381). Finishing inside, rebounding, and drawing fouls are all indicators of athleticism, and match what my eye test says about Tatum vs. Hayward."

Well..that settles it. Also, whomever said Tatum = Harris clearly did not see Harris in college. It's almost as bad as saying Aaron Gordon = Blake. Look past the skin colour and body type.

I don't think I've seen this much debate about top 10 players in a draft. This year, literally everybody not named Fultz and Jackson have mixed reviews. I don't even know anymore...

I still think the Tobias comparison holds up. And yes, I did watch him in college. Blake = Gordon is pretty funny though.

Put Jayson Tatum against the competition Hayward was going against for the majority of that season and not in the toughest conference in the country and on national TV every night in primetime matchups like he was this past season after coming back from an injury and see what type of numbers he'd put up.

My argument wasn't even that Hayward was a better athlete than Tatum. I have no problem putting them on the same level. My main issue was dude saying this-

"And you are insane if you think Hayward was anywhere close to the athlete Tatum is when he was coming out of college"

Knicks lost the coin toss to the Wolves so the Wolves are slotted 6th now and the Knicks 7th.

Nigel Williams-Goss entering the draft with an agent.

Good move. Don't think his stock could get any higher.
