The NBA Draft Thread

I mean Bron is listed as a SF but he's basically been the PG of his teams for years now. Same with Greek Freak right now. I can see Simmons being used in that same role.
Well primary ballhandler and playmaker, but not PG.   But yeah I agree that's how Simmons will be used probably.

I haven't seen anything out of Simmons that makes me think he'll be good full time on the wing. Ben has a ton of red flags.
Naw his only issue is he's scared to shoot...everything else about his game is legit..put him wherever on the court and he still gon make plays

Ben's jumpshot needs to be at least reliable from 15 ft this year. Dude can't hit anything out the paint to save his life. Defense needs work too. Outside of those two he sees the offense pretty well and is very good at setting his teammates up. Curious to see how good he gets.

Australian rondo is clearly a notch below guys like LeBron and giannis imo. Probably the best passer out the bunch tho

Wonder if he's playing the in the summer league this year
nope

Simmons and Fox in the backcourt is going to be ridiculous the first couple years and not in a good way.  Just two guys that barely shoot jumpers and drive left 80% of the time.

Scared to shoot and can't shoot outside of 15 ft. Defense hasn't been good. Can he efficiently score in isos/post ups against guys his size in the half court? Not being able to do any of those things at a high level is a huge concern for me if he's gonna be an all star type.

Off the court stuff - he quit on LSU. And had a serious foot injury as a big man. Major talent but has a lot to prove outside of highlight passes.

Simmons court vision and passing is much better than anyone's in this draft. With the way Monk and Josh Jackson move without the ball either would be perfect for the Sixers.

Legit concerns, but Skal Labissiere was ranked #2 behind Simmons coming out of HS and had a very underwhelming season at UK. Kings took him at #28 and now he looks like he could be a star in a few years.

I too am a bit confused when ppl say that is what his role will be.

If anything, they should watch film of Blake when CP3 doesn't play, like those those first couple games against the Rockets 2 years ago. That would be optimal. Or Love in Minny.

Also the obvious reservations over his ability to efficiently score at high volume. He's got pretty big holes there.

I am confused, why would you say Blake and Love? Is it for him to learn how to score with his size?

Occasionally let him take it off the glass and go, but for the most part let him set up shop at high post, occasional post ups, high-low action with the 5, cutters/curls all over the place so the D can't just ball watch, etc.

Ben Simmons seems to LIVE in the Sixers practice facility from what I see in his snap and IG stories. I don't think he's in there working on passing drills. Best believe they've had that man working on his shot this entire past year. He wants to be great, not just good. His form is actually pretty good on his jumper already so it's just up to him mentally to get over that hurdle of wanting to shoot it.
