The NBA Draft Thread

in his prime 20+ minutes a game, his team playing better with him on the court. I would define that as effective.

despite being more limited as a shooter and as an athelte than Lauri Markkenn,.

In a 12 year career he had 4 seasons at 20+ mpg. So 1/3 of his career. And I'm not really sure how you determined that his teams were better because of him? Cracked 15 or greater PER twice

Regardless, I think it's safe to say he won't be The Red Mamba

Frank really hit 27/30 though? lol practice or not that's good to hear

on off stats.

yes obviously as he got older he became less effective. hence why I said "in his prime"

Huh? I didn't mention about about him getting older. You said when he played 20+ minutes. He only did that 4 times all before age 31 and of those he managed a league average PER once. He just was never really that effective

he was effective. look at the on off stats. box score stats like PER don't capture impact of his floor spacing.

“He can make decisions well. He shoots it well. He's athletic. He could be a good defender. And you're also looking at a kid who's still 18 years old. His long-term potential as an NBA player is very good. I watched him last summer at the Jordan Gym in New York City, and he made 27 out of 30 NBA 3s. I think people who didn't know him early on -- the obligatory line when you don't know somebody is, he's a really good athlete, but he's not a great shooter, and he's dispelling that this year in France, shooting over 40 percent from the international 3. He doesn't have the polish of a Fultz or Ball or the speed and athleticism or raw athleticism of Fox or Smith, but he has the look and feel of an NBA guard when he grows up.”

I feel like Frank is the 'safe' pick for the Knicks if it's between him, Monk, or DSJr

Well at least it seems like Frank improved his shot. Still don't know about the kid really. Watching his highlights and what not, I just don't know

I'd probably roll with Smith if his medicals check out which I wouldn't imagine they wouldn't

If somehow only Monk or Frank is left... sheesh. Phil probably go with Frank or Lauri just wait on it

Gotta go with BPA. Assuming Melo is gone, I think I got it...

1a. DSJ
1b. Monk
2. Frank

It's going to be sad watching the Knicks ruin the start of DSJr's career by forcing him to play a system that he's not built to play

I think i'm more worried about his injury history. Gotta find out if they used a hamstring or patella tendon graft to repair his ACL tear. Hamstring grafts are more prone to tearing again and are often used in regular people who arent professional athletes. If the medical history clears he might be able to come in and contribute from day 1. His game is more fit for the NBA.

If only there was a way we can move up for Fox though :smh:

Really?

That's about the range he's slotted to go. He's obviously not going top 4. He's in play anywhere from 5-10.
I believe it comes down to what Orlando does

If Orlando doesn't take Smith, I believe he'll be on the board for NY. Can't see Minnesota targeting another PG

I don't believe Smith goes before Orlando, unless things drastically change from now until the draft

I tend to agree with this. Let's say Fultz, Ball and Fox are off the board before 5. The Kings have wet themselves at the idea of Fox that I'm not even sure they'd go DSJ at 5. I believe they would "settle" for Tatum or Issac if it panned out that way.

For me, even after injury and somewhat questionable Freshman season, it's hard to see all of Monk/Tatum/Isaac/Markkenan go before him in the lotto if there are teams willing to try their luck on a boom/bust project (there should be)

If he goes anywhere from 3-6, it wouldn't surprise me, but in the 7-10 range that's an easy pick for me. I actually like Frank better than DSJ as a safe pick but DSJ's probably the best or second best PnR PG in the draft, hard to pass on that potential

What makes Frank a safer pick than DSJ?
