The NBA Draft Thread

Bron or GS will only die off by the time those guys contracts are off the books. Bron has another 3-4 years of dominating left. Plus you're forgetting that Kyrie and whoever else they add will only get better too. Meanwhile, GS is on the other side 3peating.

If you cant land a star this offseason I'd trade IT for a top pick while his value is sky high and look to build with the young guys (Fultz, Porter/Mamba) and role players (Smart, Crowder, Olynyk, Rozier).

He's great, but he's not going to win the East at 33-34-35-36 after already 7 straight Finals man.

Not to mention, Kyrie/Love etc would have to survive another 4 Finals runs on top of the first 3. At some point, someone breaks down. Maybe not next year, but well inside the 3-4 you are mentioning.

Nets and Blazers have doing deals together for awhile now, starting with Gerald Wallace.

Nets get Allen Crabbe who they've wanted and a pick. Blazers get some sort of cap relief.

Everyone's happy and their relationship stays solid. :D

I don't know, I think the Blazers can get a first round pick out of this deal.

Not betting against Bron. Those Toronto and Boston teams can't compete with him. Washington still needs more pieces. Milwaukee is just young still. Maybe in 2 years.

Nobody is giving up a top pick for IT man.

Definitely not a #1 pick, but I think you'd be able to get something in the 4-8 range. Honestly, if the Kings didnt draft him they probably would bite for the 5th pick.

I guess I don't see why any of those teams would trade one of those picks for a 5'9" 28 year old that is going to want a max contract next summer. The only team I could potentially see thinking about it would maybe be Minnesota, but I still think they're better off drafting someone like Isaac and just playing for the future.

If you're not gonna pay him might as well get value for him while his value is sky high right now is all I'm saying.

No one in the 4-8 range is going to suddenly become a contender by adding IT and his soon-to-be max contract. You're mediocre in the west and hamstringing yourself financially for the forseeable future.

Y'all are a bunch of NBA2K GM's

I just think it makes more sense for the Celts to just re-sign him. Worst case scenario, he's one of the best off-bench scorers in the league at the end of his contract.

So worst case scenario your 6th man is on a max contract? That's kind of bad man

I mean it is what it is, but hopefully at least one of the youngins will be a stud by then.

It doesn't really make sense not to sign him. We aren't going to get a better player than him in free agency in 2018 and beyond..

I think the worst case for signing IT to a max is reallllllly bad.  Especially with the hip injury.  Just let him go.

Espn reporting that Phil is trying to get one of portlands 3 first round picks to add to their lottery pick

Knicks are in such a weird place philosophy wise no pun
Portland bout to make the knicks take turner/crabbe/Ezeli contracts on for a mid/late 1st rounder  :smh:

Boston does not have to offer the max. I'm pretty sure they would only be competing against themselves if they did. Just offer him something that leaves enough cap space to bring in NBA starters that can compete for a championship. Really doubt any other team out there will offer him max. Save that money Ainge.

IT2 ain't taking less than the max though. He's made that abundantly clear.

Paul Millsap is 32 and eligible for a max this season. Stiff knees and all. He's probably getting a max.

I'm sure young Zeke will too

My point being that I don't think anyone else will give it to him.

I've said that in the past as well. The ball is really in Boston's court and they can offer a discounted deal since I doubt anyone else will put a max deal on the table for IT.

The timing of IT's progress is unfortunate for him but he has to understand that becoming a 5'9'' superstar with limited defensive abilities and serious injury in your late 20's/early 30's is going to hamper your earning potential.
