The NBA Draft Thread

Very impressed by Jackson's body control on dribble drives where he can stop on a dime and dish. He's displayed it in several games

His passing in general is very impressive.

He makes GREAT reads on drive and in PnR which will serve him well in the L.

He literally is great/good at everything except shooting.

His shooting percentages over the season aren't even close to bad though. His 3PT % is average, but he's been shooting it significantly better as the season has gone on. His 2PT% has always been pretty high for a wing.

It's pretty crazy that shooting is the lone "knock" that he has. There's a reason the kid has been at or around the top of this class for several years.

^^^

His form is super inconsistent and his FT shooting is very bad for a wing.

He wasn't a good shooter in HS either.

He's been much better recently but I think he's running hot.

It would be great if he turned the corner and is good now but I'll wait for a bigger sample size.

Yup.

I'd bet on him becoming an average shooter, in time though.

With splits like 48/35/75 on a decent volume.

Yeah, I had re-wrote my post and originally had his poor FT shooting in there. That's definitely worrisome. And his mechanics are definitely inconsistent. He does seem to make it work though. He's a better, more well-rounded version of Wiggins, IMO.

Bro, can I please peep the posts of people predicting multiple time all star for Marcus smart...

He was going to be the heavy favourite for first pick if he declared for the 2013 draft. But that's not saying much since Bennett went #1. Lol

Shooting % doesn't necessarily translate to the NBA. However, free throw % does so that's worrisome.

But given his iQ, I can see him eventually fixing his form and becoming a decent shooter.

Look no further than D'Lo who was supposedly an elite shooter coming out. Kawhi is literally the only one that went from having a broke shot to an elite shooter. Usually doesn't bode well at all.

For some odd reason, I think we are going to look back at this draft 5 years from now and say "I can't believe Marcus Smart didn't go #1 or #2". Maybe I end up being wrong, but I really think he's going to be a star.

Agree.

Will bet everything he becomes the first allstar of this class.

Marcus Smart is gonna be D Wade lite and I would be very happy with that

There ya go. People were VERY high on Smart. Just like I thought Bennett was gonna be the truth  :smh:

More Andre Iguodala or Justise WInslow to me. He may end up a better scorer than both though.

Not sure what you said about Smart, but he's one of the best defenders in the NBA and just had 18/6/5/5 with no turnovers the other night.
This. Smarts a gritty defender. Plys his draft class was trash. RJ Hunter hasn't been given a fair shot imo so I also disagree there.

Jackson seems like much more of a natural scorer than either of those guys were in college. I guess Iguodala's earlier years when he was scoring around 19 per game with 5 boards and 5 assists wouldn't be too far off though.

An inconsistent shooting freak athlete being compared to Kyle Lowry?

think i'm going to have to add that to the list of terrible #NTcomparisons.

I was about to say.

Lowry been fat and glued to the court his whole career, he's gotten by on shooting, strength and his floor general abilities.

Silly that Dennis Smith tore his ACL and came back with MORE bounce though.

He been a NBA level athlete since his junior year in HS.

Just wish he didn't have alligator arms.

Yea not sure about the Lowry comparison. Kid definitely has the "it" factor. Can hit the 3 ball, good in the PnR, breaks down the defense. What else do you want?

This draft is gonna end up with a Cp3, Dwill, and Ray Felton. I'd literally be shocked if Fultz, Ball, Smith, and Fox all become all stars.

Smith ceiling depends on him being a 38% 3pt shooter.

If he is, he'll be so good on offense that the arms won't matter.

Even at the NBA level he will be unstoppable 1 on 1 and in the PnR as long as they can't cheat him.

He's already so explosive and strong, I don't even wanna imagine when he's in his prime physically.
