Jerian Grant is about to turn 24 before the season starts. How much better do you all really think he was going to get?

Love it!

And I despise Dwight but him and KP together on D is disgusting. Bring in him or Noah and I ain't mad at either

I'm going to look at the bright side. We did not trade any 1st round picks.

As sad as it is, every time the Knicks make a big trade without giving up important picks, I'm relieved.

We got back a pick, expiring Rose for Grant, Caldo & Lopez? Awesome trade. We gave up nothing much. May mean Knicks bite on Dwight though

I'm slowly beginning to resent this thread and many of you bozo's.

Can someone please elaborate why they feel this is a "bad" trade?

Sure, it's a bummer we lost Lopez, but he was owed $40 Million till the end of the 2018 season. We now got a $21 Million expiring with Rose and we freed up another $8 Million in Calderon. I didn't like that we gave up Grant, but we were bloated in the PG position and basically gave up a backup role player. And on top of all that, we're the ones getting a draft pick here.

This is all in play for the big free agency in 2017. Phil is looking into the future with these moves.

Let's see what phil does this offseason in free agency and in the draft.

What does this do to our cap? Someone with math skills and cap knowledge break it down please.
My immediate thought. Saw someone break it down on Twitter that we now have around 45 mil to play with but that just doesn't sound right to me. I'll try and find the tweet

This was an amazing trade. RoLo was good but was slow footed and if we wanted to pick the tempo up he would essentially be an overpaid backup. Now KOQ will get more PT. and I don't think we saved any money on this years cap because essentially Caldo and Rolos contract was a wash with DRoses.

All we gave up was Lopez's economical contract and a first rder who couldnt earn playing time (i think eh's gonna be a solid backup). Very high upside trade. We gave up a quality FA signing, but remember we also got Caldo off the books and a 2nd rder tmrw. Pretty good move imo

I don't love Rose's personality, but will be really interesting to see how he plays under Hornacek and with Melo

I CAN'T BELIEVE!!! WE GOT ROSE WITHOUT GIVING UP A FIRST ROUND PICK :wow:

Thank you Phil

That's the best news I've ever heard this year

The more I think of it, we gave up almost nothing in this trade. We unloaded Caldo's deal and got holiday and a 2nd (whose combined value not much different than grant imo).

Thinking that way, u guys wouldnt trade RoLo for Derrick Rose straight up? Even if RoLo's deal was slightly below mkt?
