see the problem with this team was dolan would do things on his own terms like overriding the melo trade instead of letting donnie let the year play through and just sign melo outright in free agency... and also he would approve of dumb trades and not step in the way only time he did that was the lowry trade which he should have pulled the trigger...so now dolan finally sat back and chilled and gave phil the keys to the franchise along with 60 million hoping that the team would go up to another level but only got worse since phil took over... i respect dolan for paying top dollar and taking on dumb contracts and hope for the team to succeed but eventually failed... but he needs to step in and just fire phil... i know its drastic but it needs to be done immediately

Phil is the biggest fraud in the league. I would be surprised if anyone still has respect for him after these last couple of months. He's the Donald Trump of the NBA.

I guess I'm the only one in this thread who isn't angry right now

It's one thing that I learned from being a knick fan is keep expectations low

Besides, Luke Walton wasn't going to fix this team overnight.

Exactly. Pissed off Thibs is not coaching us

We don't even interview people who actually want to be here

So frustrating

Puke was never going to the East coast.

& that's fine. How do you feel about him as your new coach?
After it was made well known Thibs wanted power and Brooks was hired, I'm fine with the hire. Actually pretty excited because he seems to be open to all new ideas and communication, and not wanting to know if his players can fight or are man enough.

I'm sure it's much more refreshing than Byron Scott

Surprised Walton left gs
I'm not too surprised. I'm sure he wanted to do his own thing & leave the safety net of GS. Plus it's an opportunity to make way more money which i'm sure he had in mind. He also gets to coach a young team w/ talent. Good decision.

I don't think Walton will turn the team around right away, but I'm sure free agents are open to playing for him. Plus it's LA. Now, we need a coach that free agents want to play for, plus it's NY.

I'm not too sure on his immediate affect, but I like the decision b/c they have nothing to lose since they're starting over w/ the retiring of Kobe.

We're almost back at full blown circus status.

The part that's most frustrating is this is what happened when Dolan finally listened to everyone and sat back and let someone else handle the job.

He'll have his grubby little hands all in the front office decisions again soon enough if we don't find some fort of success.

Phil either needs to be here or not. If he's thinking about leaving, he can go now.

I miss Donnie Walsh.

How tight would you guys be at Phil if grunwald didn't do the bargnani trade though and maybe we tanked a bit more to give Zingawd a sidekick :nerd:

The coaching situation is enough alone to be fed up with the nonsense.

All the bad deals we've made to further put us behind the 8-ball is just the icing on the cake.

Frankly, I don't give much weight to the narrative of Melo and Kristaps being on 2 different timelines.

David Robinson was on his way out and Tim Duncan just came in the league when they started dominating. No Melo isn't D. Rob and Porzingod isn't Duncan but the point remains.

Just build the best possible team around them, play a style of play conducive to their talents and let them rock out.

Spread the floor and let the 3's fly, let RoLo be the scrappy scavenger that he is and get Melo and Kris a good PG...they both need one. We've seen this combination work under Woodson.

Staps isn't Pau or Phil's typical big man, he's much more offensively inclined and more of a wing type player. The triangle, even ran to perfection, would shackle his talents. RoLo isn't Pau either, so why do we run so many plays through him and so far out from the basket? He's a board banger that thrives cleaning up other player's mess. Let him be that. And let our scorers mix it up and score.

We have 2 star players perfectly suited to the new NBA rules and styles of play and we're trying to run this archaic style of ball and win in spite of it. SMFH.
