Trade Melo for Jeremy Lin.

only if we can get Sessions and Reggie Evans as well.
most deadly 1-2 punch since Clyde and Willis Reed

i havent been in the thread for a few days and i still managed to make it to the draft. im training 2 new people at work too, so they had to sit and watch

i see a lil bit of Tristan Thompson in Atkins.

Wesley Saunders clips

i like how Phil has gotten a lot of bigs, bc they are more injury prone.
and it seems like the whole roster has a high basketball IQ.
expecting little to no knucklehead plays/turnovers.

cant wait to see this roster play

... with our emotions and let us down once again. (in before trade everyone :nerd: )

here's your idiot nerd of the day

I've thought Melo has been overrated his whole NBA career. Thing is, it's never been his fault he's not as good as teams think he is.

God I love Melo... But homie better carry that ******* chip on his shoulder into the season. I dont wanna see no soft **** this year. :pimp:

y'all think the trade noise coming from melo's camp or the knicks? either way real interesting that this has come up and it's still september. kinda seems like a classic story from melo's camp at this time of the year. last year was the "I'm the most underrated superstar in the league, but that doesn't matter to me" now this...y'all know how i feel about dude anyways.

want the squad to fight it out for the 8th seed but at the same time i think we need to get him out of here for the franchise to move forward. move just hasn't worked out and truth be told i don't really blame him if he wanted out, a lot of stuff outside of his control that's made the situationl difficult on him (coaching changes, general chaos within the organization, lack of direction & stability) although he hasn't helped himself. at least he's trying to make it appear that he's focused on the season. smh though damn knicks **** will never change will it :smh:

Dude come on. The season hasnt even started yet and youre ready to pull the plug and say this hasnt worked out after one season Melo missed half the season and had the worst supporting cast in the NBA? :smh:

These talks are not coming from Melo or the Knicks. I am 99% sure of that. Neither side has even hinted that they are ready to give up on each other. This, like everything else this summer, is just dumb *** media speculation that was freated out of thin air by Zach Lowe trying to create ******** trade scenarios for Markieff Morris and the rest of the ******* world just ran with it.

This is what happens in NY. All summer long its like the season is falling apart before a game has even be played. Im tired of hearing this ****. If we are a joke again then maybe we'll see what happens. But lets at least see the product on the court before we act all crazy like the sky is falling and Melo has been a complete bust. Lets not forget the success Melo has had here with less than spectacular supporting casts. It really shouldnt be too difficult to build a roster capable of making the playoffs in the East with Melo, considering he led us to a #2 seed and 54 wins with a really subpar team. Phil very well might have done enough this summer, and unlike the 2013 team, there is some youth. So if we do squeak into the playoffs, it's not crazy to think we can build from there in 2017 and beyond even without our first round pick next summer.

Just wait it out. Trading Melo right now would be a rash and stupid move for the Knicks. We would be lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar and it would crush any chance the Knicks have of making the playoffs this season AND we have no pick in the upcoming draft.

Besides the rumors are all ******** because Melo has a no-trade clause. The media is really disgusting

exactly. melo is only going to be traded when HE wants to and where HE wants to go. i'm not concerned with these silly rumors, because they are exactly what they are, just rumors. anyway, i like the signings. i'm all for bringing in young guys and maybe finding a great prospect. if not, they were signed for cheap anyway. although many of you dislike galloway, he actually played well last season and he's cheap. i'm cool with that. i dont expect him to become an all star, but just a solid role player. that's all we really need. we don't need 4-5 melos, just 1 and good pieces around him and world star. PLEASE let WSHH develop into someone worth being picked 4th overall. PUH-LEEZ!!!

how many teams would Melo waive his NTC for, have the cap room to absorb his contract, and have the assets to make the trade?

Also, I 100% think that the Knicks should go back to the 2 PG set up. Been thinking a lot about that lately and want to write an article about it for JRS' website but I have gotten really busy with work stuff lately. I might have something in the works soon though.

But basically IMO the Knicks should start both Calderon and Grant in the backcourt together. The 2 things ive been thinking about a lot this offseason when it comes to the Knicks is who should take that final starting spot as well as how we are going to be able to get something from Calderon after his disastrous last season. IMO this is the best way to do both of those things.

Get Grant in the lineup and utilize Calderon for his strengths like we did with Kidd/Prigioni. Because like Kidd/Prigioni, Calderon is not a starting caliber PG anymore. He cant guard these new era guards and he lacks the athleticism to run the fast break. BUT just like those 2 players, Calderon is an extremely crafty veteran with great court awareness, a nice 3 point stroke, and he rarely turns the ball over. He probably even has more left in the tank than Kidd/Prigioni did. At least Kidd for sure. Starting Grant and Calderon together might be exactly what both players need and they could be an even better PG duo than Felton/Kidd were in 2013.

Then we use Afflalo at the 3 like we did to Shumpert. He is big and strong so he wouldnt be overmatched defensively and he adds another shooter/scorer to the mix. To play second fiddle to Melo. Then we can move Melo back to the 4 and have Lopez as our rim protecting center.

After that, we would have a lot of options in the frontcourt to work with, with Porzingis being our versatile 6th man who can basically replace anyone in that starting lineup as the first guy off the bench. From Calderon to Lopez. He can come in for Calderon and move Afflalo to the 2, Melo to the 3, and stick Porzingis at the 4. Or he can come in for Lopez if he gets into early foul trouble and be our backup center.

Ideal versatility for a 6th man and I think that being 6th man would be a great place for Porzingis as a 19 year old in his rookie season. Even before thinking about going back to 2 PGs I was always more leaning to starting D-Williams or O'Quinn over Zinger. I don't love the idea of starting both our rookies out of the gate, and Grant is more ready to start from day 1 than Zinger. But as 6th Man, he can play ample time at both the 4 and the 5 as he figures things out. It allows him to ease in to the rotation a little bit while still being thrown into the fire in a key role. And he has the offensive potential to jumpstart the 2nd unit.

I think the Knicks can have some success this season going back to the formula that worked for us while incorporating the triangle from there. If you really think about it, on paper, that 2013 squad really was not that much better than what we have right now if the new signings and rookies play up to their potential this season.

i'm cool with Caldo/Grant/Afflalo/Melo/RoLo

that 2012-13 squad overachieved by like 14 wins. JR actually being focused for the majority of the season was huge..
