Hulk Hogan Tearfully Begs For Forgiveness After N-word Rant That Cost Him His Career: ‘There's Not A

Everyone has racist tendendacies and thoughts, to crucify him for a heated outrage is meh. Not a big deal in my opinion. Very touchy subject though and it was the politically "right" thing to do to fire him.

There are situations when individuals are remorseful because they know they caused hurt to those they are close to, and others. Then there are those situations where individuals are remorseful because they got caught.

I'm going with the latter here.

Similar to the fellas from SAE, hate, that is damn near visceral, doesn't disappear with a conversation with your local NAACP and some scathing internet comments.

How do you change an individual, who was damn near conditioned to view Black people in a negative light his entire life, overnight?

You don't.

Subconsciously, he probably harbors more resentment than compassion.

Take your tears elsewhere.

i dont have racial tendencies or thoughts b. that generalization is meh.

For some reason I think we have all said or implied something racist. It's almost in our social makeup to think it sometimes whether we like it or not.. I mean what Hulk said was wrong but I am sure if we all had recordings of what we said, we'd be questioning our approach at times. There is really nothing else he could do to make his situation better. To apologies is really just a given but that is more than what I can say about Michael Richardson.

But despite his tarnished reputation, Hogan called the day he was fired from the WWE “the greatest day of his life.” He wants to use his mistake to teach others that racial slurs are unacceptable.

“This can become the greatest day in my life if people understand there can't be double standards," he said. "And you just can't use the word. Let's take it out of the dictionary. Let's not use it in rap songs or movies. I mean, if it's unacceptable, it's unacceptable.”
Sounds to me like he's completely missed the point.

First of all, he's reduced the scope of his offense to the slur usage alone - which is highly problematic in itself.  He wasn't somehow using a racial slur to address his White chums from Tampa in some confused and ignorant attempt to sound cool.  He used a racial slur in the context of objecting to his daughter dating a Black man.

There's no way to qualify that as a "mistake," or suggest that, somehow, it isn't fundamentally racist.

As if ignoring this component of his rant to focus solely on the slur usage wasn't tone deaf enough, he then proceeded to essentially blame Black people collectively for the "double standard."

In other words, "I don't have a racist bone in my body, but this word infected my vocabulary because of rap songs and movies."

You wonder how he'd feel if someone had assaulted a member of his family and said, "the day I was fired from Applebees for assault could become the greatest day of my life if I can help everyone understand that there shouldn't be double standards about violence.  If I'm not allowed to punch people in the face out of anger, then Hulk Hogan shouldn't be allowed to clobber somebody with a folding chair on television for the purpose of entertainment."

"I shouldn't have used a bad word... but I'm not racist, some of my best friends are Black, and there's a double standard" hardly qualifies as a sincere apology.

People like to play dumb.. like they don't know there's different versions of the N-word.

Hulk Hogan knows....he used the rap form when he was talking about Booker T and in the rant transcript he used the racist form.

What is racism exactly. I hear this word tossed around a lot. If its using a racial slur then all of my friends are racist. Black , white, asian, latino, ALL of them.

Meh... at least he apologized. Gotta start changing for the better at some time.

Of course he apologized. What alternative did he have?

He should've apologized for it straight through. What's ridiculous is that he didn't really apologize so much as he blamed it on something else -- this is an excuse and not really sincere at its core.

Regardless, the damage is done. Even after he did the Hail Mary with the crying and all. It would've worked if he didn't throw out multiple excuses.

All of your friends are just uneducated.

I honestly don't use any slurs for other races and no one around me does for the most part.

There might be something racial driven that has happened to one of us and they'll drop cracker in but that's it.

Don't even know what the slur is for asians.

I used to get asked by co workers (mostly white) if I wanted to hear a joke. They'd be like it's got race in it and I'd hit em with a

All forms of this word makes me cringe no matter who uses it.

Not accepting Terry's fake apology

Me personally, my jimmies are not in the least rustled if someone called me a ****, to me that **** is laughbable...I know a lot of Spanish people that would have the same reaction, as a youngin in the hood we all grew up using the N word...it was tough derooting that from my vocab, but as a adult I'm held to different standards so I don't say it...only time it comes out my mouth is when I'm singin along to some rap song, I really don't care who hears me, I'm enjoying the song and rapping along, I'm not gonna censor myself, if you not offended by the song it self, any fan of the music/artist rapping along shouldn't offend you either, that's about the only exception to me...

We used to keep a picture of hulk up at work. Now he's sitting in a dark corner covered in dirt since the incident
