Houston Teen Takes Selfie With Gun, Dies

The thing is "gun control" won't keep guns off the streets.
there will be less guns , so the solution is NO gun control just to understand ?
We should be more clear. When you say gun control, what do you mean?

I fully agree it's far too easy in some places to get guns. Which in turn keeps trafficking high in the US from areas with lax laws to areas with tghter restrictions. I've seen NTers say they have no chance of getting a firearm and I literally went and got one on my lunch break one time.

At this point, in my experience with people I know, they're getting guns to protect themselves and their property. To say no one needs a gun is a statement I cannot agree with simply based on guns existing in the first place.

Will there be less guns if they are outright banned nationwide somehow? Yeah of course. But there will still be guns. There will still be mass shootings, there will still be home invasions, etc etc. There will also be an increased need for the firearm black market, because banning them or making them harder to get won't make people NOT want them, or stop trying to get one. Especially in this country where we glamorize guns and the military and the like.

Gotta start somewhere, I just have yet to see a plan that makes sense.
why is "there still will be" a counter to "there will be fewer"?

no major problem in society will be solved in one go, the fact that it wont all go away should not scare people into not taking the first step.

gun control doesnt STOP gun violence, it reduces it. which is clearly a good thing

all these arguments will always exist, doesnt change the fact that gun control works and has worked in many different countries

americans may think they are special and different but they are not. human nature is human nature

in many parts of europe they don't even know what guns look like. y'all can completely miss me with this we need guns for protection crap

in many parts of europe, females don't even know what a shaved armpit looks like
i'm at set with all that

sea manup sea manup It wasn't a counter, I actually agreed with him |I read my post.

Like what is "gun control" to you? I always see that we need it but never a clear method of attaining these goals.

The goal is fewer gun deaths - What is the first step that people are afraid of taking? Australia is a good example of something that could work, but its a much different case. For one it's an island with like a tenth the population of the US. There are far more guns in this country, I'd wager there are more guns in this country than people in Australia by at least 10-11 times over.

A plan would be good here but it has to be realistic. Human nature is indeed human nature but to pretend Americans don't have an unhealthy obsession with guns making them an inherently special case doesn't make any sense to me.

there are some powerful gun manufacturers in this country

they just keep makin' em & makin em & makin em & makin em...

If WE take the GUNS off the STREET, then these issues will decrease. We have to rebuild our communities, get the guns off the streets.

You act like people who break laws will listen to new laws. D Boys and Scammers know the law yet they think they're above them. Then we have folks who have illegal possession of firearms when there's "gun control"

My bad, must have misunderstood.

I don't think there's going to be a single solution to it all, more like a combo of various laws put into place.

The most basic should be licensing that needs to be renewed every year. Kind of like a drivers licence (but more frequent check points) where you need to prove to be mentally healthy without a violent criminal record to get a licence. This would be checked yearly.

If you're a responsible gun owner it takes some time and money but you don't have anything to worry about. Of course people will get passed the system but it will still reduce the amount of careless/dangerous gun owners.

if a proposed gun law won't work then what's the harm in trying it out? According some people nothing will change right? So why not try it out and see if behaviour changes

Where's the article? Americans want to talk this gun control won't work ****, but it's just fine for other countries. Stop ************ yourselves.

The only use for a GUN is to KILL
MURDERERS have guns
Put the guns down
Before there were guns there were fair ones
Cats these days are quick to untuck the blickee but scared to out their hands up and fight like a man.
Everyone needs to turn their guns in

guns dont kill people
gun control will solve nothing.

Looks like gun deaths were already on a downward trend before the gun law even took effect. Actually, we have a similar decline of gun deaths in America too. It coincides with the overall decrease in crime from the 80's. Correlation does not always mean causation.

Dude shouldn't have touched the gun in the first place. Gun control won't solve a damb thing, I currently own 4 guns and have never pulled one out on anybody but I carry one everyday because you never know what might happen. I'm not scared to fight or anything but if Tyrone rolls up on you with a gun that he got illegally and you're not armed what would you do? Give up your stuff and hope he doesn't shoot, but if you are armed you have a chance of getting him away from you without even firing a shot. In most cases the mere sight of a firearm is enough to stop an attacker. Miss me with the gun control BS. The advocates for gun control are the same people who have ARMED BODY GUARDS, they're rich enough to afford body guards but common folk like myself can't defend mine.

There are too many guns manufactured for there to be a successful ban on firearms. It's too far gone.

I wonder if it would be better if people had swords instead of guns like in medeival times. Most would probably just carry crossbows.

The thing is why do you need a gun to protect your stuff? If someone comes up on me with a gun they can have my ****, it's only materials. Most people, unless they're psychopaths aren't out here just killing for fun. I'm not about to give up my belongings to an unarmed person, but I'm also not carrying a gun to protect myself from a robbery. That's that American gotta defend mine mentality. I'm all about defending my life and my loved ones, but my materials against a firearm nah. Most people aren't out here taking lives all randomly and most people who get murdered are murdered by someone they know, therefore there's no real need to protect yourself with a gun against strangers. Do bad things happen to innocent people? Yes. But mase, a knife, the hands, can carry you very far, especially if no one else has guns.

there are other uses for cars, there are other uses for vehicles

guns are only used to cause harm

stats show that gun violence decreases after gun laws are put in place, the same would happen in the US

Post a graph for Britain.

As cruel as it is or seems that I post those rolling lols I do it cuz I literally blurted out laughing when I read the thread title. So so so stupid :smh:

Except that's not true at all. See DC and Chicago from the late 80's after gun control had been introduced.

The 94 AWB had no measurable effect on gun violence.

So wait...

Did he take a selfie with the gun and then intentionally kill himself?

Or did he take a selfie with the gun and it accidentally went off while he was messing around?

Crazy thing though if it really was "found", if they trace it back to someone they'll be charged with murder. Probably already a body on it if it was dumped.
