I backed in & out but it got old fast.
it is better than 5 guys, shake shack doesn't look appealing at all to me.

Just went to San Diego this weekend had In-n-Out and its kinda overrated. Fries were trash but burger was good for the price. Long *** lines though. The staff is great there though which is one thing I really appreciated

and as a fast food burger thats what im looking for
if I want a quality taste with no regard to price I'll go to a gourmet burger spot.
I do like 5 guys but I wouldn't frequent there for the price.
wish we had Whataburger in Vegas to try it out.

What about Markie mark new spot. Wahlburgers? The line always qtr mile long since it just opened here so I never had the chance to try it. Five Guys (TWO times I went there, this is how my burger looked... and apparently many others had the same experience.)
Meanwhile, at In-N-Out... which always has long lines and a quick expediting process.... they still always manage to curate a masterpiece. This is why y'all cant win!!!!!

Had shake shack once in Vegas last month. Soggy bun and their shake sauce was tasteless. Yeah I'm never going back

It's going to be the same as when you went years ago. (The food, not your feelings) That's the beauty in In N Out.
In my opinion, the food tastes great. Not THE BEST, but great. Especially for the price point.
Where In N Out shines is in consistency, quality, value, and freshness. It is still an honest food chain with honest ingredients and a great product. That's why they get my money, why I love em, and why I think it beats 5 guys.
I can go to an In N Out 2 minutes from my home, then on a road trip up to the mountains stop by one off the freeway.. it's going to be the same every time. And that's the point.
