Very impressed by the defense minus a few 3rd down conversions. For the most part, they *GASPS* wrap up tackled guys. Gio got some good runs here and there, but they did a really good job of getting in the backfield getting tackles for loss, and not giving up big plays.

On the flipside, minus the Young Gawd TJ's TD to Hopkins, good lord this offense SUCKS sick.gif it's a damn pain to watch these games.

4-5 and in 1st doe smokin.gif

Random notes from the game after looking back at the stats and stuff:

- Rahim Moore spent his second game benched, and conveniently the secondary has another very good game.

- XSF played every snap, and I didn't know Oday Aboushi was on the inactive list.

- Didn't need the stats to see this, but Kevin Johnson and Charles James played like some vets. Def some standouts for them.

- I call myself staying up on the roster, but I didn't even know Brian Peters and Brandon Dunn were called up. Made some noticeable plays too.

I thought he was gonna be a very good signing. Now, it seems clear that he was the beneficiary of a very good Broncos D that hit his flaws. Only thing that makes him better than the Ed Reed signing is that he's young.

We just claimed Weeden, for no reason other than to have another QB on the roster to back up Yates if Hoyer can't go

It looks like Yates is starting Sunday, so the Weeden signing makes sense, even though I know there's 10 QBs that could've been signed before him. Hopkins missed another day of practice as well, but that looks more precautionary than anything.

Kareem Jackson and Brian Hoyer are both ruled out for Sunday. DeAndre Hopkins was out for practice again, but will be good to go.

Another really good defensive effort today, to the point where you really have confidence they can close games, though it did get shaky towards the end when the Jets went no huddle. Watt is still being the elite DE that he is, whether sacks, bat downs, or TFL. The NFL thread is real quiet about Watt right now, even though it looks like he's on an even better pace than he was last year. Clowney was in on a lot of plays too, and that was really good to see. The secondary played very well minus some flags. They seems to be gradually gelling, even with injuries. Hal moving from corner to safety almost looks like when Glover Quin did the same. That diving INT was excellent. Mercilus was in on a lot of plays as well. I'm not sure who started between the two, but it works. Cushing's been looking good too nerd.gif

Hopkins pimp.gifpimp.gif Bout to reach double digit TDs. he pretty much destroyed Revis so much they he went home to be a family man. O-line was decent, but could definitely be better. I like the fact that they opened the playbook with all the wildcat plays, along with that Shorts pass. He hit Blue perfect laugh.gif Also, Blue and Grimes did some pretty decent running. They had to really work for everything. Basically a good collective effort in terms of rushing.

Special mention to special teams as far as the coverage goes. They've improved a lot since the beginning of the season.

sick.gifmean.gif at the Falcons and Titans for not doing their job

The Houston Texans signed the following players to the practice squad:

C Dalton Freeman and OLB Gerald Rivers

QB Zac Dysert was waived to make room

Three members of the New Orleans Saints are officially OUT for Sunday’s game in Houston against the Texans.

The bye week didn’t help bring linebackers Dannell Ellerbe (hip) and David Hawthorne (thigh) any closer to the practice field this week. Both sat out all week, and both will be out on Sunday. The same goes for cornerback Damian Swann (concussion).

Saints left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) and linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha (ankle) are both probable after being limited in Friday’s practice.

Also listed as probable are the following players: running back Mark Ingram (shoulder), wide receiver Willie Snead (knee), linebacker Stephone Anthony (leg) and linebacker Ramon Humber (hamstring).

The Houston Texans don’t have any players listed as OUT.

Three Texans were limited in Friday’s practice in cornerback Jonthan Joseph (knee/wrist), running back Alfred Blue (back) and offensive tackle Derek Newton (elbow). However, all three are probable for Sunday’s game.

Some pretty terrible playcalling towards the end of the second quarter. They went conservative too fast after that pick. The Saints had no more time outs, so they could've pushed the ball down the field, or at least went uptempo with short stuff to attempt for a field goal

Excellent first drive after the half, and exactly what they needed to get momentum back. they're playing Hopkins pretty well, forcing Hoyer to rely on other guys, but other guys are stepping up. i do feel like Hopkins is do for a big play that should put things away.

This defense has been playing fantastic these last few games. Today they really only gave up two big runs, which was pretty much their entire running for the day. Watt, Clowney, KJ, KJ2, JJoe, and pretty much the whole secondary made plays. The turnaround of this defense is amazing to see. The offense was good too minus it stalling after that pick. Really liking the mix of plays they're running offensively to maximize possessions. Hasn't been a lot of predictability, which is great. The mish-mash of running backs has worked out these last two games like I thought it would at the beginning of the season. Buffalo up next at their stadium. Gonna be a very tough game regardless of the record. Sure would be nice if teams started beating the Colts indifferent.gif

Hate to hear there's some o-line shuffling today. Apparently Brandon Brooks has some kind of stomach problem and ended up leaving the stadium. Might be ulcers, but it's not confirmed. I'd prefer they start Oday at that spot instead of flipping everybody around.

This is actually a pretty big game. As far as seedings go, we can still make the playoffs without winning the division if that's what it comes down to. Only thing, we'd have to actually get behind the Colts to beat the Steelers sick.gif Also, that Chiefs loss week 1 holds some relevance as well. Have to hope they take like 2 losses while we also do our own job.

This was a very bad loss based on the fact that instead of having the last wildcard spot, we're now the 3rd team out. This loss and the Chiefs loss can possibly keep us out of the playoffs if it comes to tie breakers. We'd basically need to win all the games we can, hope for any number of Steelers/Chiefs/Bills losing. This really sucks cause we had the opportunity to win after being down. Silly penalties, overthrows, drops by the WRs and TEs, and busted coverage collectively did us in.

To actually mention some positive things, Grimes >>> Blue, Polk >>> Blue, and even with just 3 weeks on the roster, I even have to say Hunt >>> Blue.

The Texans were without Brandon Brooks on Sunday.

But the right guard might be back next Sunday when Houston hosts the Patriots on Sunday Night Football at NRG Stadium.

The fourth-year veteran was inactive against the Bills due to an illness on on Sunday morning. He spent the day and night there in an area hospital, but will be back home this evening.

"Brandon Brooks stayed overnight in Buffalo," head coach Bill O'Brien said on Monday. "Should be back in Houston by seven o’clock tonight."

In his place, the Texans started Oday Aboushi at right guard. The offense was able to rush for over 100 yards in its third consecutive contest, as the Texans ground out 126 rushing yards against the Bills.

According to O'Brien, Brooks had been "throwing up all night" before the game. Upon arriving at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Brooks was taken to a hospital.

On Monday, the head coach said it was too soon to speculate whether or not Brooks would be available to play against New England.

HOUSTON -- Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has a cast on his left wrist and missed practice Thursday.

Watt said he broke his hand during Wednesday's practice but will be on the field when the Texans (6-6) host the New England Patriots (10-2) on Sunday night at NRG Stadium.

"People are going to try to make a big deal out of this, but I've played with worse than this before, even this season," Watt said. "This, I'm not very worried about. My elbow a couple years back was way more painful. This was painful when it happened, but it's football. In a game of football you're going to play with pain."

Texans coach Bill O'Brien also said he expects Watt to play Sunday and does not expect the injury to affect him. Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel said Watt will have to adjust to not being able to grip anything with his left hand.

Watt didn't offer specifics on how he suffered the injury, but he said he knew immediately his hand was broken. He was unsure of a timetable for his recovery from the injury.

"Football is a game where things happen and you play through it," Watt said. "You go out there, you do whatever you can to help your team win. So that's what I plan to do."

Watt is also dealing with a groin injury. He did not practice two days last week with the groin injury but played 100 percent of the Texans' defensive snaps against the Buffalo Bills.

Asked if opposing players come after injuries when they know he has them, Watt said: "Let 'em try. I mean, what? The opposing players come after me every week with every type of thing in the book you can think of.

"So feel free, go ahead, come at me. I'll take advantage of whatever you try to do. It's my job to get to the quarterback. That's what I do."

Watt has never missed a game in the NFL. His 76 consecutive starts trail only Julius Peppers (98) and Rob Ninkovich (77) for active streaks among defensive ends.

The reigning defensive player of the year, Watt leads the NFL with 13.5 sacks. Last weekend against the Bills was the first time in six games in which Watt did not have a sack.

Watt has faced the Patriots twice in the regular season, but he's never sacked Tom Brady. He had half a sack against Brady in a Texans-Patriots playoff game after the 2012 season.

The New England Patriots travel to NRG Stadium to face the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football. The Patriots have lost two straight after starting the season 10-0, and head coach Bill Belichick will look for his team to bounce back against the Texans. Houston is currently in a tight playoff race in the AFC South and is currently tied with the Indianapolis Colts at 6-6 on the year.

The Buffalo Bills snapped Houston's four game win streak, and Texans head coach Bill O'Brien will need his team to bounce back against New England, as they have no room for error in this conference matchup. Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer is having a career year in his first season in Houston and has thrown a career-high 18 touchdowns to just six interceptions. Hoyer will look to target Texans star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins Sunday night as he leads the team in with 86 catches this year.

Hopkins has 1,169 receiving yards and is coming off a big game against the Buffalo Bills in which he caught five passes for 88 yards and touchdown. O'Brien will look to have a strong combination of run and pass plays on Sunday, as he will look to keep the Patriots' defense guessing.

While Houston's offense will look to get it going against New England, it's the Texans defense that separates this team from others. Star defensive end J.J. Watt is expected to play with a cast on his hand Sunday, after breaking it this week during Wednesday's practice. Watt is a matchup nightmare for any defense and has recorded 13.5 sacks this year.

Belichick has likely devised a strong game plan in protecting quarterback Tom Brady from Watt Sunday night, and the return of Rob Gronkowski will have a major impact on New England's offense. Gronkowski is reportedly expected to play Sunday against Houston, and he currently leads the team with 931 receiving yards.

Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola will look to be Brady's top targets on Sunday, as they both can be impact playmakers. Amendola has filled in nicely in the slot role with wide receiver Julian Edelman injured and has caught 56 passes for 582 yards with three touchdowns on the year.

The Patriots currently have the third best offense in the entire NFL in terms of yards per game, but they have struggled to stay consistent with their ground game. Running back LeGarrette Blount will see plenty of touches Sunday night, and New England will look to establish a strong rushing attack against the Texans. Belichick knows how important a strong ground game can be come playoffs, and expect Blount and running back Brandon Bolden to get plenty of work down the stretch of this season.

Both teams are currently fighting for the postseason, but New England is truly fighting for a strong postseason position.
