Air Jordan 17+ Retro "Copper" - The Aftermath - NO BUYING/SELLING/TRADING

you dudes trying so hard to feel ok about some of the worst retro pricing ever. You're going off info that's not even accurate. It's already been shown in this thread what the price really was. Let's compare... 1s are basically $100 over original price. these are $85 over assuming those prices are even accurate in that catalog. It lists other shoes for the current $190 price so these could likely be even more than 250. now how much newer are these than the 1s?? Where is the inflation argument for that one? I guess JB has some magical way of doubling inflation on certain shoes? Some cat will come on here next and try to tell me it's worth it if they include the dust bag  . I'm done

I said I wouldn't mind paying $250 not you or nobody else but me. So like I said before I wouldn't mind paying $250 for these with my own money....all that you just said up there was pointless and mean nothing

I feel like blowing up my computer when ever i hear people say inflation is the reason why these Jays are so much money. They can never explain why the Spizikes price hasn't changed in 9 years or why other Nike retros retail for the same price as they did in the 90s. It's all based on hype and JB knowing how much people will pay/do to get their hands on these shoes.

With the being said $250 is close to a resell price on these so I'm not completely upset. Plus, if the 17+ is $250 the regular model should already be $10-20 cheaper I hope

Good value or inflation or whatever. All comes down to: if you like it and think its worth it then buy it. If not then move along. I for one will hope the price keeps more people away so I will have an easier time of getting the coppers. Always loved them but couldn't shell out over $150 for some sneakers back in my high school years so these are a must for me.

I had every pair of 17 ogs except coppers. I want a pair of coppers and a pair of white reds. If Jordan loves me(which they dont) they'll make a white/ red low

Great performance shoe. I'd pay 250 for these before I'd drop the same on the xxx

hope JB don't forget about the college blues & these as well...
Nah, they can keep them wack joints. When these released, it was the first time I saw an entire shipment of shoes that came pre creased. Literally every shoe had a crease in the toe box. I don't complain, and I know they will crease, but let me put the crease in it. Because of this, they sat for a long time in my store. Clean cw, but that pre crease turned me off to those real quick.
From what I can find (as well as remember), the retail on the original XVII+ was $165. I have attached a few pictures showing price tags on the original boxes of a few pairs of XVII+ (not my pictures). Two say $165 (from Champs and Eastbay)... the other says $175 from "J-Sport." I'm going with $165, as that seems right.

It definitely wasn't $200.
bingo

My college blues are still in great shape. I clean them up and boom they're fine. Never was a fan of the shroud though. It feels like it's going to cramp your foot if you have wide feet.

so someone can justify a $75+ increase? and i guarantee they won't even come with the shoe bags. i guess we're just gonna get taxed if we want any retro past the xiv.

Yeah, look at eBay and what people are willing to pay. There, price increase on their end justified.

You guys need to realize that everything will always go up in price. Cost of materials and labor will never stay the same so why should the products? Prices of materials go up such as cost of leather. Then you also have to consider the factory regulations and standards, you can be sure the factory conditions are not what they used to be after all the sweat shop controversies. Then you gotta consider the rising wages of employees on all levels. Nike is a business they have to meet a certain quota and they will never achieve that keeping prices the same. I'm no eco or bus major so this is as far as my understanding goes. Does it justify a $75 increase? Maybe not that much, but to keep shoes the same price for decades while maintains a certain level of profit is impossible.

Not to mention, JB stated last year they were going to start using higher quality material since everyone was complaining about quality and stated they were happy to pay a premium for a more premium product. Now that JB has answered that cry you guys are complaining about the price? :smh:

No one is saying that the prices should stay the same. But the price increases are definitely outpacing the rise of inflation.

And as far as the remastering BS.... Quality may be slightly better on some models, but overall quality really hasn't significantly gotten better. We definitely didn't get our 40 dollar increases worth.

explain why the Spizikes price hasn't went up in 9 years since it was first introduced. And they did release this year As a part of the hare collection and a few others, yes thir materials are the materials used on 3s and 4s and the 5,no they did not go up in price in 2009, 2010 or 2014 when prices jumped BEFORE the remaster. I'll wait...........

Stop.

And LOL at "better" materials. You mean "the materials they should be using". Dat sheep mentality is strong on NT.

Regarding the spizikes, as stated in my OP I never claimed to have a full understanding on the basis of their price increase, I was just stating my thoughts.
Why not look at a more popular shoe like the air max 90? They were $80 in 2005 and 10 years later they are now $120, a jump of 50%.
As stated in my OP, the increase for the 17+ may be too high to blame it all on inflation and is most likely also driven by hype and demand.
I never claimed the $75+ increase in price was perfect but I feel it is an acceptable increase which is why I will be purchasing them. Would I like to pay $200 instead? Hell yeah.

And there is no sheep mentality here. Not even sure how that term even relates to my post. If this is regarding listening to Nike about the materials they are using, did they or did they not improve on quality compared to before? The decrease in quality in comparison to the OGs is not what is in question here but rather their promise to improve on the quality of the products compared to 2+ years ago. They pretty much just gave the people what they wanted along with "Nike Air". No denying they are milking the consumers for both those points but at the same time the consumers stated they were willing to pay a higher price for them.
