Still boggles my mind, since it's hard to keep control of a gym for long periods of time why not for every 24 hours you hold down a gym you should get more coins and dust?

That's basically where I'm at... I started 2 weeks ago, which was about 3 weeks after release if I remember right, and am currently at trainer level 11. In the next few days I'm gonna crack my Lucky Egg and batch evolve, then I'll finally have a high enough level to evolve a few mons for fighting gyms. Still going to wait til level 20ish to evolve my favorite mons that I want to have better stats.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read that eggs can contain things from the lower tiers as well. For instance a 5K egg can hatch a Pokémon typically found in 2K eggs.
