Should maybe throw a pokeball where it doesn't hit the pokemon as a tester (it wont run if it doesn't try to capture) then use the masterball.

I'm pretty sure the secret is to give it a second before tossing a ball cuz I noticed this usually happens when I try to throw one as soon as the mon pops up on screen. Might be Niantic's way of counteracting the easy "nice" "great" "excellent" throw you used to be able to do if you just rapidly swiped away at the screen before the mon even popped up.

Unintentional curveballs are the worst. I came across a CP??? Snorlax today, and I had 5 Ultra Balls, and some Great and Poke Balls. All 5 Ultra Balls missed, either to the right or left, just barely to one side or the other (I was swiping straight up and down). Fortunately I caught it with the first Great Ball. Game's got me making a Nick Young face when it gives me a curveball bonus when I throw it straight, or it doesn't give me a bonus when I very obviously throw it curved...

2nd gen was probably my favorite just off of gameplay. It introduced new Pokemon and (pre)evolutions of 1st gen Pokemon. We got Pokemon breeding and egg hatching, new poke balls, and Pokemon and events happening at specific dates/time.
Plus I'd rather have an Ubreon or Espeon than a Vaporeon.

Agree with all of this. 2nd gen made improvements to what we had in RBY without changing the (perfect) feel of the game. While going back to Kanto was basically a bonus, I do wish that that later part of the game didn't feel so rushed/underdeveloped... I dunno if storage capacity in the cartridge had anything to do with Kanto not being as fleshed-out as it was in RBY?
I never bothered with any of the games past GSC, but still have my 1st & 2nd-gen cartridges

Word I hit up the Nike Outlet pretty frequently before or after going to the gym cause it's literally down the road couple minutes away. Always got that $5 survey coupon on hand lol
And y'all got me wanting to play my old Pokemon games. Growing up my brother and I always had our own game so together we have every game from Red-Ruby. I didn't get a DS when it first came out so I stopped at Diamond/Pearl. Picked back up when X/Y came out and I've been messing around in Alpha Sapphire. Def copping Moon in a couple months.
I've heard Heart Gold/Soul Silver are the G.O.A.T. Pokémon games. Might have to stop by GameStop today and buy it for the low lol

Word. I'm mad I only got 1 Scyther. Scizor bad as hell.
I wonder how they'll deal with split evolution trees (i.e. Poliwrath vs. Politoed). Hopefully it's not just random like Eevee.

I encounter them pretty randomly but they're not too uncommon by me. I've probably caught around 30. Sometimes they'll spawn by my house. Other times while I'm walking around. Haven't run into a consistent spawn yet.
