Bruh people get wrongfully beaten and killed by police officers everyday and get settlements in the thousands.

What about this situation warrants millions?

Didn't the arresting officers admit they knew the clock wasn't a bomb?

They were following procedure in a zero tolerance incident. The kid was suspended multiple times before this for being a troublemaker. They'll collect a check from this hoax. They played Obama for a fool by dipping to Qatar, a country that is a state sponsor of terrorism and still has slavery, the day after meeting him. Also, don't forget his father is friends with a war criminal that has stolen over $9B and has persecuted Christians in Sudan.

The family moved to some Middle East country anyway. This is just a cash grab

You don't know much about lawsuits, if a person settled for thousands I promised that's not what they sued for.

You want me to put a price on cops and adults who are suppose to be supporters of children screwing with a child's psyche

Rusty, you cool with this whole thing? I wouldn't be surprised if his family pushed for this.

Edit: Just read that he set the timer of the clock to go off in class. This dude's playing everybody.

If this goes to court, they'll disclose his previous history at the school. But the media will gloss over the truth.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if his dad set this whole thing up from the beginning. And his dad is still trying to run for President of Sudan.

FYI: Whoever's pulling the strings on this deserves kudos. Not sure how much they'll get from this, but he's won so far (Microsoft sent him stuff, White House visit, scholarships).

Yeah I'm cool with it, why won't I be?

-First off there is no proof, zero, that this family told him to bring the clock to school to get a reaction. Secondly, it is completely on the school and the police force for how poorly they reacted.

-Secondly, his family has played this thing perfectly after the fact. They have stayed on message, and haven't cut the school or police any slack. These zero tolerance policies do numbers on tons of kids of color every year. So I have no problem with the family having a zero tolerance policy towards the school.

-Lastly the kid seems like a good kid, so I got no problem with seeing him shine and making the most of this.

Flipping a negative into a positive for himself.

While I would be willing to shade the family if people can provide me proof of an ulterior motive, so far there is none. Just a bunch of "look see he is Muslim and he has an opinion, and they're not being forgiving like they should, and his dad likes attention....................a hole bunch of nothing IMO"

A Muslim family didn't allow themselves to get played by the system, and even worst the flip the script and flourished. I'm not in the least but mad at them

-If seem to be getting upset that the family a styling on everyone so heavy, so they figure they must have set this whole thing up from the jump. Problem is, even if that were true, the school still had to drop the ball for this entire "plan" to work.

I definitely agree with you to the extent that he's (read: his family) played this masterfully. And the school and police still deserve that L.

I'm reading more about this (all I remember was the initial anti-cop outburst) and it doesn't make sense as a whole:

- Kid took the insides of a Radio Shack clock and basically mounted them inside a briefcase.

- He shows the clock multiple times around school until one teacher calls up the principal (and cue the publicity).

- Cue the publicity and results: he gets major publicity, scholarships, internship offers, White House visit, invitations to top tech conferences, etc. <--- All good things imo

- Then more details come out: he's been in trouble at his school, his dad is an anti-Islam activist, his press conference starts with him saying he wants to go to MIT, etc.

While I admire the family for playing their cards right and cashing in as much as possible, some stuff just doesn't add up.

Sounds like the American government, #1 sponsor of state terrorism and bffs with countries that do such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Let's not forget u.s. politicians being best friends with dictators and world leaders that conduct torture and severe human rights violations. In fact, the U.S. does itself too.

The worst violators of nature and human rights never go to jail. They hold the keys to it.

But the family had no control over school's and especially the police's reaction.

If it were so zero tolerance, why were the school and police so quick to drop the charges and welcome the kid back.

At the end of the day, the school and police goofed, none of the other stuff happens unless they goof.

(All the other things about him taking to class, and his dad's antics have nothing to do with that fact). Just seems folk trying to shift the blame off from were it landed outta the family

Agreed, putting the kid in cuffs was much.

The family had it good initially, but this $15M demand won't be easily won if this gets taken to court. I do admire the massive trolling though.
