Excessive Force Much? Vol. Jaywalking

Buddy was grabbing onto the cop's baton....
while the cop was trying to choke him with it. Guess he should have just let the cop choke him out, pinned up against the flowerbed right there. And the worst most dissenting opinion of the video from someone who claims to have been there and knows, was that the boy was possibly also trespassing. So again, beyond a non threat, tremendous overuse of force

respect is treating other people the way you would like to be treated.

cops do not treat others. (specifically harmless nonviolent offenders) the way they would like to be treated.

people act like society is going to fall apart because dude walked in the bus lane.

write the ticket call it a day.

you think the kid learned a lesson that day? maybe he won't walk in the bus lane anymore...

but he definitely lost all respect for law enforcement. and will be more likely to break other laws with contempt for law enforcement, not cooperate with criminal investigations, run or react violently when confronted, post on blogs about how much cops suck, and perpetuate hatred for the law

and the racial contrast is once again the icing on the cake. white cop. black kid.

somewhere people need to realize that black children and white children will never fully assimilate. white people are brought up into a legal system that caters to their culture. psychologically, a black teen is already conditioned to feel like society is against them (because it is) and less likely to feel honor and reverence for an institution that doesn't care about their needs. i had a friends brother that got jumped by gang members. I told them to file a police report. they definitely knew who jumped him. i was scoffed at. they would rather retaliate and deal with the possible consequences than utilize the police force that their taxes pay for. my mind was blown and they were somewhat judged.

Why is police officer the only job on the planet where if someone says something you don't like so many people find it ok for them to respond with force?
THIS. MAN. KNOWS.

Yea, dudes just say forget the Constitution and Bill of Rights. If a cop doesn't like the way you talk to him or look at him, he has the right to beat you to a pulp and arrest you for "resisting arrest".

Same people that are quick to quote the 2nd amendment. "It's my right!" :smh:

Worried about defending themselves against a tyrannical government but totally fine with cops who habitually abuse their power.

^

You not lyin at all man.

I've literally only meet one person in my life who was against a tyrannical government and acknowledged that a good amount of cops abuse their power and protect each other when they do

Stockton has a lot of crime. Surprised they went through all that for a schoolkid who jaywalked.

:smh:  @ the "if they don't grab our weapons there would never be a reason for force". It's a natural reaction to grab the object that someone is beating you with to stop the beating.
Police: Do this
Civilian: Nah
Police beats down civilian. There is no middle ground with some of these cops.

Kid didn't deserve a beat down, but he is an idiot.
It seems like some officers are just THIRSTY to get violent. It's almost like you could see the adrenaline pumping through their blood.

They live for it. That's why they become cops.

This is getting ridiculous. Like really.

The kid is 14. Sue the police department for multi millions.

That and they know the standards are extremely low. C- avg student can work deadend jobs after highschool and become a police officer. Not a clue about anything, but he's given a badge and a gun to use and invoke authority over others who aren't officers.

the problem is most of yall have an ego which leads to your *** beating by the police

just stop talk to him see whats good and talk your way out the ticket. but nah most kids is on that "nah yo get off me bruh, worldstar"

I agree with not giving officers a hard time so they "might not" give you a hard time. But, where do we draw the line ? When is it ever okay to rough up an unarmed child as an officer for disrespect ? The mindset behind giving justification to this scenario is baffling.

When you have to tell kids to be respectful so you won't get your a** beat. That's how you know we have a problem in the system.

And the police don't have an ego?
its not black and white like this

most cops do have an ego, but you can only control what you can control

you can control the way you interact with cops

a lot of cops are scum walking around looking to put a beating on people, a lot of the times they are not justified and should be fired. however if a cop tells you do do something, don't go out of your way to piss him off. if you do that's just poor decision making

I agree with your entire post.

Seems like this rarely to never happens to those 2nd Amendment enthusiasts who like to strap up with excessive amounts of firepower and congregate outside of where ever Obama is, or put an AR15 on and walk through the airport literally looking for anyone, police or civilian, to accost them say they can tell their rights and wha they ain't gonna go.

Every time it's one of "those" videos, everyone in the comments in heralding them as a hero for standing up for their rights. But whenever a young minority boy or man (hell even women and teen girls in fact) is beat down or even worse for nothing or some minor offense, we always hear about how they shouldn't have been possibly talking back, resisting or should have been calmer and the officer was justified because "stop resisting," "thought he had a gun," "feared for my life."
