Complex Magazine bashes "Old School" Rap Fans Complaining about Drake & Future's new project

That article is trash. I find it ironic though that the author is upset at what people may define as "real hip-hop" yet the author defines what a person should or should not listen to at a BBQ. :smh:

He should've done his research. Lupe did a joint with Jeezy like 7-8 years ago, he's worked with Trae Tha Truth, a few other cats. Kweli done worked with everyone from Punchline and Wordsworth to UGK.

I simply didn't like the project. I don't have to pull my OG card as to that being the reason. I like Drake's music, he's REALLY DOPE. And I'm from THAT early 90s era.

A lot of these so called hip hop journalist are just suckas.

I can rock with the rap I grew up to and can rock with the current rap now. One thing is though, they are not the same. I stopped reading when dude was trying to compare Black Moon and Mobb Deep to Rae Sremmurd. You just can't compare both eras. Nobody dares speak such nonsense when comparing today's R&B and compare to 80s and 90s R&B.

Why do we have to engage in this 'real hip hop' conversation so damn frequently. Why the hell is the writer of this 'article' (I use the term very loosely, because the quality of writing was questionable at best) so upset about the opinions of others? Enjoy the music you want to enjoy and move on. At this point, popular opinion doesn't really matter. Just find what you like, no matter how obscure or pop and enjoy it.

All this extra crusading and anger over other point of views, regardless of how true or ridiculous they are, is wildly corny.

Also, Complex sucks.

Bye.

I agree with duke, he ain't need to call Ns out tho, cats diss this, DISS Lupe, diss mad other "real hip-hop" cats but wanna cry about wanting to hear real rap, t&y still a top 5 project, just not tryna hear that when I'm turnt up. Ppl need to learn to listen to cats for what they are

I mean, I agree with him too...but it's common ******* sense. Music is subjective. Writing an article complaining about people and their opinions on music is pointless.

Just comes off as whiny.

Especially when the quality of writing is clearly lacking. I thought it was just a poorly written post from OP until I saw the link.

And this is supposed to be respectable media?

I learned a while ago that Complex Magazine is aimed at 14 white kids in Iowa. Which is who this article would make the most sense to.

Article is inaccurate. I know young dudes (ages 18-25) who don't listen to Drake or Future. Not all young people support Drake or Future. The author is loss.

What he's saying isn't wrong. It's just poorly written and divisive for no reason.

That Twitter screenshot of those people who feel high brow and elitist when they say they only listen to "real hip hop" and act like "music with substance" is the only thing worth listening to is very real, and annoying.

I read on here before that "Turn up music can't be classic".......yet I go to a party, and as soon as "Cash money taking over for the 99" comes on.....everybody rushes to the dance floor and there is amazing energy in the room. That is a feeling that music evokes too.

Hip Hop is at its best when there is a balance. Simple
