Is There a More Unreliable Profession Than Barber????

I've been going to the same barber for 3+ years.  The only reason I am not going to my former barber is because he got locked up for drugs.  But I swear being a barber automatically means you are shady as hell.  Dudes always got some extreme life issues, lack of time, lack of responsibility, etc.

I can call my barber and tell him 'how many you got?' He will say it's empty and he can see me at 2PM.  I get there at 1:50 and it's a whole basketball team of people and a metro bus of kids with their moms waiting.  Always '1 in front' and I end up waiting.  I've legit stepped to my barber on some respectful ish and it works for like a month then after the 30th he back on his BS.

I don't think it's a scummier profession than being a barber.  Like they put "late to work, hands smell like french fries, call out sick every other day, going to drug school, need to take calls while I'm cutting' on their resume and they can get a gig anywhere in america.  It's ALWAYS something and they are NEVER responsible.  'I got you with a cut but can you run me around the way to drop off XYZ'  I almost threw hands with my last barber because he told me he wasn't working that day and I needed a cut BAD for a wedding I was in.  I'm mid cut and this ***** walks in with a bag of McDonalds and starts spazzing on me like I did something wrong.  Talking about 'you coulda come through to the crib if it was THAT important!!!.'

WTF gives...

Been using the same barber for over 10+ years. He rarely no shows and the only issue is he's so dependable he ends up taking some of the clients from the other barbers.. which leads to longer wait times

Kinda real, doe. All the good barbers are either dead or in jail. I kid. But all the good ones I've had, I've separated. Either the shop closed or I moved

The guys at my barbershop are stable, old guys. I actually got a haircut today.

Sidenote, I gotta chill on lining up my neckline inbetween haircuts. The trimmer blades aren't adjusted right and I have clipper burns / cuts on my neck now. Need to see if black soap will make it go away.

What trimmers are you using and how is your blade set?

Really depends on person. I've had some pretty professional barbers that are always on point, and I've had some real reckless unprofessional types.

If you have a professional, keep him around and tip. They are hard to come by it seems.

My barber has left dice games with money on the table to give me a cut.

That's why I believe in tipping your barber.

Had a fallout w my barber of 16yrs just a couple months ago. Kid ou not, I was one of the first people he gave a cut to when he just started (my next door neighbor at my old crib). Went away to college and dude got his own shop, clientele up. Came home and he was on some diff ****. Would have to set appointments then when you show up at the arranged time you still have to wait 40+ mins. The final straw was when I would show up and he would have dude just walk in the shop and ask if he can give em a cut before me. Not once has he made me skip someone for a cut (not that I would request to) but I just felt like he got full of himself. The last time I spoke to dude he told me come in at 3pm but I was running late. Showed up at 3:30 the shop was closed, called his phone no answer. Called him the next day, no answer. Found another barber who's been holding it down but it would have been nice if former barber would have held it down.

sounds like my barber

started going to a new barber and hes way better, sometimes you don't notice because you're so used to being cut by your barber. go to someone else bruh

Had a barber for about a decade but some kid I went to school with started cutting and ended up working in the same place. One day, I said I'll let my boy cut my hair and that dude went from 60 to 0 real quick and gave me the cold shoulder when I left.

That was three years ago and thanksfully, the kid I went to school with moved to a different shop and he's been cutting my hair every three weeks since :smokin

I have the andis outliners 2. I set the blades pretty close. Might just go and buy a new blade, the one I have are a few years old.

Switch up your schedule, that friday night/saturday wait is not the biz. I can stroll in weds/thurs and get right in the chair. That's when I did weekly though.

Just found a new barber a month ago. On busy days I always end up waiting like 15 minutes but that's because he spends time on people's cuts, including mine and ends up going a little over. So I'm not even mad. My old barber use to only take like 10 minutes to cut my hair.

Serves you right for that KRS 1 slander, props to your barber.

Gotta find a better barber OP.

My barber cool as hell, even kicked it outside the shop and went out a couple of times. Dude is real professional, even comes in 2 hours before official opening to cut me if I need it before work (even with short notice). I tip him generous without a second thought. Dude goes above and beyond so he deserves it.

you guys obviously never been to the financial aid office

SO hard finding a good one. I go to a pretty hipster-ish barber shop that gives you Natty Boh or a shot of whiskey if you're so inclined. They usually don't have a sign up sheet and that spot is ALWAYS full, yet they don't really buy into the whole "I come here for this guy" type of thing. Now, I usually say I'm waiting for the one dude, but there's always this attitude like "We're ALL good here, so why not hop in the seat?"
