Not sure why everyone's getting so heated. All I wanted was to learn more about snitching in the US and what qualifies as snitching.
I simply used my case as an example to see how Americans react to that. Safe to say it's heavily looked down upon in most cases, even if the snitch is a regular civilian like myself.

I think the problem most people are having is because you let another man punch you in the face and didn't do anything.
But then proceed to call the police and forge a medical document to press charges.
And at the end of it all you and your friends "had a good laugh about it" as if he's the sucker in the situation. When in fact, you are the said sucker.

I can understand that, fighting is also something that is very different in the US compared to my country. I'm fine with Americans calling me a sucker for that situation because that's how fighting is viewed there. Here, if I would've fought back I'd have been labeled a lower class degenerate and would've probably ended up in losing a lot of respect.
What I can not wrap my head around though is why people don't support snitching when it rids the community of criminals hurting said community.
Let's just use an example here.
Let's say that a violent gang is extorting civilian shop owners in a community, selling drugs, ...
If someone inside that gang were to get caught up and snitch on the rest of the gang, landing them in prison, how would you guys react to that? From what I can tell the majority of comments would be "dirt *** snitch, rat, [insert city here] lost" etc.
That's what I find so strange.
We should be happy that criminals are getting locked up.

Youre not bout dat life where snitching amongst street cats is looked down upon. Certain street cats have a code where u just dont tell on your compadres....but theres really not much loyalty amongst thieves so of course a street cat would snitch to avoid....prison...not seeing his family etc.
You dont see it as a bad thing becuz youre not that type o cat plain and simple.
Sum people would say your situation was more than a snitch move but moreso a lack of character and moral barometer.
Guy accidentally hits your bike.....you talked sum ****.......u got washed. Apparently not everyone in your country thinks like you about lower class degenerates being the only ones who fight, seeing as a guy with a beamer smashed your shwinn and gave u the hands.
Lots of people witnessed this embarrassing situation and you felt slighted....so you decided to enact your vengeance the only way someone of your grit could.
Go brush your teeth then drink some orange juice.
