RIP New York Hip-Hop? (Need Some Feedback)

You aren't built for intelligent discussion.

Since Illmatic what are these entire projects that have been guided? Puff and RZA were the only ones doing it.

We are saying the same thing. But again I'm the one who isn't built for intelligent discussion.

Those type of producers have been long gone so why is the lack of them all of a sudden an excuse when Dipset/Cam/50/DMX/Hov did it without a Puff or RZA behind them orchestrating the whole thing?

Just be honest and say that it's a combination of

A. NY isn't as hot as you'd like to think it is as far as making music RN

B. A lot of NY rap fans have a certain outdated idea of what NY rap is supposed to sound like which prevents a Thug/Chance/Yachty type of eccentric dude from NY to come up

Yachty is trash. I dont ever wanna see his name brought up in a positive light in here ever again
I personally like him

He's entertaining

The only dude who's gonna give you lines like "I eat that ***** like a cold tender"

But to me rap is like food...sometimes you just want a bag of chips or a cheeseburger...I'm not trying to have steak and lobster and a three course meal as a late night drunk snack

vinlyz is fire and a legit hitmaker. it would be really dope if he just threw ny rappers beats like zaytoven does for the south but thats asking for a bit much from any producer

Yeah Drake goes over a lot of beats that could be nice if you had a NY rapper worthy.

Dave East X Vinylz/Boi-1da would be hot.

Even 40 has some good **** outside of that underwater filter sound if you peep his work with Bronson.

Caught on to east about a year & a half ago and i must say the progression is really good to see, Dudes flow has improved a lot

No we aren't

I'm analyzing music, because I'm knowledgeable about music. I didn't even say New York was hot.

You treat music as some sort of competition, as if you get something out of Future selling records. Like you're rooting for a sports team. No other music genre does that stupid ****.

NY _'s kinda started this whole "Us vs Them" competition **** tho, at least from my experiences.

Starting in the early 2000's around the time Snap movement starting blowing up dudes was running around like crazy claiming the South killed Hip Hop, intentionally ******** on dance songs that were obviously just for fun/kids, etc.

_'s didn't wanna have anything to do with the South and started really tryna draw lines in the sand. I understood some of the sentiments even tho I was young as hell but I swear sometimes it felt like _'s just needed somebody to hate now that the East-West rivalry was over  :smh:

You're reaching for everything right now man. I said nothing about record sales.

When I say "hot" I mean as far as the talent that the city possesses or the quality of music they are making right now.

I am also of the sentiment that it's weird when people feel some sort of accomplishment from Drake going platinum like it does anything for their own existence .

Hip hop was always a rivalry regions always got compared.... the problem with it now is that people aren't arguing quality of music, dudes are talkin "buzz" (that they are basing off of what's around their area and mixtape sites).

****** weren't upset at Tip, They wasn't Upset at Jeezy, or Ross.......... ****** weren't ****** with clear trash rap being put to the forefront and talented rappers being placed aside. the Line in the sand has always been trash vs talent. NY use to clown the **** out of trash rappers from here also.

All the OG's from the south got stories about NY tryna **** on them early on. Outkast, UGK, Scarface, Jermaine. So it wasn't just the trash rappers that NY was mad at. It was that NY pride.

NY needs to push Dave East and Joey Bad*** or whoever they think is nice. Dudes riding for Designer doesn't help. If y'all are about lyrics and good rappers don't co-sign trash and biters. Push the dudes with real talent. If not everybody that gets real shine is gonna be another biter off the south (ASAP mob, Fetty, Designer). All those dudes just jumped on what's popular.

Exactly

Even then, when _'s are going super hard with the "South doesn't make real Hip Hop/killed Hip Hop" **** basically dissing a whole region it really don't matter who it's aimed at, everybody getting offended.

That's when you get Pimp C making songs like Quit Hatin the South, Jeezy going at Nas, etc

Past that, who gets pushed to the forefront has less to do with the rappers and everything to do with the Labels, media, etc. Dudes are just making music how they wanna make music.

Thats why it was hilarious when 1-2 years later (yet still in the midst of all this) Chicken Noodle Soup pops up with a push from Univeral. Very next year, This is Why I'm Hot takes off with a push from Sony, etc. All these _'s are just pawns being used by Corporations for monetary gain.

At the end of the day, you can't let all these people have control over the culture in exchange for money, etc and then turn around and get mad when these _'s decide to do whatever they want with it and not necessarily what YOU WANT them to do with it.

Why do you keep this broad generalization of what New York people were doing?

NWA wasn't getting played in New York?

Snoop wasn't getting played in New York?

Dudes keep generalization 9 million people off what you heard and thought.

Outkast were doing shows in New York. Who was going to those shows?

Nas dissed Jeezy over the content of his music. Monie Love did it to. Is she from New York?

What was regional about that? It was about the whole Snowman persona and what he was rapping about.

It's a hit dogs rule. Do you think Scarface felt they were talking about him? What about Phonte?

Dudes hate everyone from New York based on some song Pimp C made and Outkast getting booed

I'm talking about the NY vs the South ******** that kinda kicked off around the early 2000s with the Snap movement....

And you bring up Snoop and NWA bruh?
laugh.gif

As as far as the second post, Nas never dissed Jeezy so I don't even know what the hell you talking about
laugh.gif
The whole Jeezy/Nas **** started because Jeezy was offended about Nas naming his album Hip Hip is Dead and then they squashed it shortly after.

Wait, NY is now denying they thumbed their nose at others on some rap ish?
NY dudes generally wallow in their provincialism, it was no different in hip hop.

NY ****** in here trying to re-write history? :nerd:

Most of the artist themselves would tell you they fronted on the south.

As Fat Joe (an early embracer of the south) famously said in the "Make it rain" remix.....

"Why is everybody so mad at the south for? Change your style up/ Switch to Southpaw"

:smokin

This is just chickens coming home to roost. You sht on a region for decades....then come back and try to play victim .

The NY artist that embraced the south, won during that time:

-Hov
-Dipset
-Fab
-Fat Joe
-50 Cent

All the other artist, and the NY perception as a whole thumbed their nose at the south as inferior.
