"No More Swiping: New Credit Cards Designed To Reduce Theft"

Had no idea America didn't have this stuff been using this techonology since like 2008

^ not that many stores have the chip readers yet. Wal Mart is one of very few stores that's actually been using them. I've seen a few stores by me (Long Island, NY) that do have the terminals with the chip readers, but for what ever reason haven't activated the chip reader yet, so you still have to swipe. I guess they're gonna start using them now that the deadline is almost here

I live on Long Island. My brother bought something at old navy and told me he had to use the new machine.

Places that do have the chip readers don't have them activated. Fastest way to use the chip is to put your card in once they start the transaction and just keep it there until you get to the signature screen.

Publix has had them for a minute; just left there. They're still not activated.

There is a security loophole with these chipped cards. I'm not going to say how just that it's only a matter of time before it becomes public knowledge.

All these people saying that apple pay is better/faster leads me to believe apple is lobbying for these chips to be implemented then swoop in for the kill when people realize the chips take longer than swiping via the old method

Credit cards have rfid bro

And they can be hacked by ppl just passing u by.

yeah this is going to be no fun. my bank forcibly is making me switch cards over.

back to that cash life.

Mann I've had this card and it's only worked once in Target. The next time I went into that same target, it didn't work.

One thing I can say tho WF have def stepped their game up. I randomly just a new debt sent to me bc they had questions on some actions on the old card.

I just got a new card from Wells Fargo with the chip. Never knew what the point of it was since I always used it like normal and never noticed anything different.

But for real, Wells Fargo is the best of the big banks. Customer service is A1. Another thing is, we all know that banks get busy, it happens. 20 people in line at Wells Fargo, no problem, they always have like 5 tellers on the line or more. Go To Bank of America and they have two god damn tellers. TWO! I've waited an hour to get a transaction done at BoA. 30 people in line and two tellers until one of the two goes on break. The manager hides too so I can't even tell him anything. God, I hate BoA so much.

We have used these things in finland like ten years. Much better system than stripes. And nfc readers in cards are now here so you just show your card in the machine and it reads it by contact.

As a BOA customer i must say this is 100% truth.

I've just conditioned myself to never use the tellers

My BOA card has this chip and I always have to use it at Walmart. It does take a little longer and sometimes doesn't even work. I had a whole cart of groceries and went to pay and the machine wouldn't read my card correctly. They had me insert it like 3 times. I ended up just paying with a debit card, but of course I get home and I'd been charged on my CC and Debit card.
