Earlier, authorities told had said they were responding to reports of an active shooter at the Roseburg college campus.

Roseburg is a city of about 22,000 people located about 70 miles south of Eugene, Oregon, and some 180 miles south of Portland.

These mass shootings are highlighting problems, but what problems in particular other than gun laws?

RIP to those kids.

My son is about to head to college next year. I'm prolly going to tell him to get a job and forget college with all these shootings.

Don't live your life in fear. When its time, its time.

RIP to those that lost their lives.

Mental health.

People are going to get guns regardless. You do years in NYC if you're caught with one and people are still out here with them. People kill people.

Shooters need to start killing themselves instead of harming others.

This. People just feel so defeated because it just keeps ******* happening. :smh:

Sounds like another problem we have here but none the less, I feel the same way, it's almost like you don't even flinch when you read about things like this now which is sad.

Mental health is an issue and more needs to be done to look more into it. I believe that most of the mental problems stem from the media. Every day the media is telling how your life should be in order to be great, from your salary, your retirement savings, relationships, material possessions, work life, the list goes on. Now you have people who aren't mentally strong enough to ignore or resist these subconscious nuances. Add that to the lack of social skills that people possess today and you have society full of powder kegs that could blow at any moment.

Then we treat mental health as if it's taboo to actually discuss and look into.

Unbelievable how ordinarily this happens.

7 dead, 20 injured.

Any word on the shooter? At least once I wish it would backfire on the shooter and people would bludgeon him to death. I know that's messed up...

I just want to see what the person looks like who did this... Thats all.. So far i hear "gunman"...

My only thing is that it always seems to be gun control VS mental health, never a combination of both.  An increase in attention to both would be ideal.  It is irresponsible to chalk up all shootings/mass shootings to lack of attention paid to mental health.  Just my 2 cents.
