OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

Paul Pierce hasn't made a single corner 3 pointer all season. (0-9) He shot 42% on Corner 3's for Washington last season
Wesley Johnson should literally take ALL of PP's minutes. Unplayable.

Pierce is low key Kobe/KG level washed.

Loves him some contested 3's too

I said the same think in the NBA thread, but one of the guys in there said he sucked at the beginning of his season with the Nets too and then ended up playing pretty well. So, I'm hanging on to some slight hope that he gets better. Not expecting it, but hoping.

Pierce doesn't have to make a basket all season... Clips just need someone come playoff time who doesn't shrink and get scared... That's the only reason he was picked up.

What's the face for

As of right now, I don't forsee any benefit in trotting out this version of PP even for a 6 minute stretch in the Oracle, Chesepeake, or AT&T in a must win game 2 of a playoff series. It's really a recipe for disaster.

I can live with playing him now, to see what he has or doesn't have. But in all honestly, it isn't even his offense. He's so bad on defense and is just too small and slow to play small ball four, what's the point of playing him? For what?

Again, I asked this weeks back but I'll say it again. I sincerely hope the romanticism behind PP doesn't kill us in the playoffs man.

Pierce is much, much, much more washed than KG and Kobe. If Kobe swallowed his pride and came off the bench I think he'd be decent. Pierce can barely move. He "dove" for a loose ball the other day and I wasn't sure he'd ever grt back up. He should just take the bus back down to Imperial and chill for the remainder of the season. I'll call him an uber if he needs me to.

I honestly think we shouldn't have a set starter at SF. Play the matchups. If we're going up against a tough rebounding/bigger team then let Luc start. If we're going up against any other team let Wes start. Lance and Josh need to be in that 2nd unit together doe. I'm sorry to say shoeking but I think we'd be better off eith a spot up shooter over Austin. As well as he's played defensively I think having someone else to spread the floor would open things up for Lance to penetrate, which he's showed he can do very well. Pentetrate and score or kick out to our shooters and all of a sudden we have a 2nd unit who is capable of scoring on a consistent basis.

I think Lance is becoming my favorite player  I love seeing him push the tempo after a defensive rebound. I'll take one or two turnovers per game if it means we'll get 3/4 easy bucks with the bench. Not to mention the 2nd chances he creates with the offensive boards. Literally every point we grt from the bench is a plus.

Would not surprise me at all to find out that the only basketball-related things PP did in the offseason were sign his contract and show up to the intervention at DJ's house.

Omg lmaooo

Lance is better than Austin especially with the ball so you are correct in that regard, and plus Lance can rebound and defend as well. Thing is, we don't have a more optimal backup 1/2 so Austin kind of has to play.

This is never gonna happen but CJ Wilcox came out of college as a shooter. Is shooting lights out from 3. Would be the perfect compliment to Lance in the second unit. I think Lance lowkey could and should be the backup one to CP.

The fact that we are a game out of 3rd in the conference, with the 2nd longest winning streak in the conference currently, is hilarious. I'll take it though

This season is wild so far, man. Can't remember another year when so many teams were right around the .500 mark and there were so few really stand out teams.

Works in our favor though, so I'll definitely take it.

wild lineups, wild sets etc etc

i just cant understand the logic of having blake run offense so far away from the rim. what is so hard about starting the play with blake on the weak side block and running a screen/rub play to get him prime position on the strong side?

2 man basketball with no other player movement isnt working.

i am not mad at jamal crawford, i am mad at doc for enabling jamal crawford.

the teams body language says it all. blake's body language specifically

someone email this to Doc. Something's up in the locker room. Team just doesn't look in to it.

Jamal Crawford and Paul Pierce have played 258 minutes together this season. Wesley Johnson has played 262 TOTAL minutes.
This is a huge problem and it's going to continue to screw us. Both of these guys are lowkey unplayable, but then when you keep playing them together it's like playing russian - roulette. They have a team worst -8.2 Net Rating when on the floor together.

There's no reason to at least Try CJ Wilcox man. We need Shooting. He's a shooter w/size and he can't be as bad of a defender as Crawford is plus that would make Lance the primary playmaker in the 2nd unit which is better than having Crawford or Rivers have that Job.

Not even saying it would work or not but we're 10-9, let's switch / juggle some things up a bit. It shouldn't even be that radical of a proposal. We drafted the man and Crawford / Pierce / Rivers (from the perimeter) all stink.

Let him get some bump right now. We may need him down the line if JJ's back goes out or something.

(Because I'm a basketball nerd and semi keep up with the D League lol)

You telling me this doesn't deserve a look? He can't be worse than Crawford / Pierce / Rivers right now.

Alright i'm done

I was actually pretty impressed with that outing. Shoots well, comes off the screen hard...perfect JJ mold.

I lowkey got hella excited when he checked in today. :wow:

crawford/pierce/rivers?

wait...didnt we all praise rivers a about a week or so ago? now its time to give CJ Miles playing time over him?

I wish we had CJ Miles

Rivers hasn't been bad but look at how the 2nd unit is constructed. If Lance is gonna be running the offense (which he should) then Having Rivers out there is lowkey pointless. We need a shooter to open up the lane so Lance can get to the rim. I haven't seen a team/player yet who can consistently stop Lance from getting to the paint. The lroblem is when he gets there he has to kick it out to Austin and Not only is Austin a bad shooter but he knows he is so he passes up a lot of good, open shots.

Blake played like **** last night and IDK if they picked up on this during the broadcast but I was at th game and there were 2 or 3 times where Insaw him get mad/frurstrated with what Lance was doing. Im starting to think Lance does not run plays the way they're set up all the way through. There was a play specifically out of the timeout where it looked like we were gonna go into the pick n roll action with blake and give black the option to attack or lob to DJ. This dude Lance didnmt even use the pick and as soon as Blake saw that he threw his arms up  i'm guessing that was the issue Doc was having him earlier except now Lance has proven he can help the team so he kinda just has to deal with it.

Lance does a lot of questionable stuff but i'd much rather take his dumb behind the back/no look passes over Jamal's 18 foot leaner or 25 foot pull ups.

Overall I don't think last night is a game any of us can really get mad at. We were without CP3 and lost JJ in the first play. Indy knew they didn't have to worry about anyone else and with Blake having an off night shooting I'm not sure how we stayed in it so long. I haven't even checked the boxscore but as far as I knew we were in the 4th Quarter and Blake still had 0 rebounds :smh: where dey do dat at?

Oh and you know what the most disgusting part of all this is? Whenever PP or Jamal get subbed in they damn near get a standing ovation. Wes comes in and the dudes behind me start booing  :smh:
