Was talking with a friend about this and saw it online, which I agree with.
I think Blake has to (and will start to this season) shoot more 3's. CP said blake is doing it in practice, I hope to see it more during the games.
Diving into the numbers, last year he shot 38% on long 2's, (although he obviously missed a billion games) and in 14'-15' he shot like 40% on long 2's. This is kind of bad. Most people hear that "Long 2's are the worst shot in basketball" but are now reciting it without realizing why it's bad.
It's great that he's expanding his range, but with Luc and DJ in the starting lineup, it only benefits himself and LAC as a team if he takes a couple of steps back and starts to shoot 3's. Relative to the rest of the league, no one really shoots well enough from this range to shoot these as much as Blake does, (With the exception of CP, who's shooting 46% from this range over the past two seasons. 45% would be considered "elite" for reference)
Like my man Lucas pointed out, even if Blake shot 30% from 3's and all his long 2's turned into 3's, (a 10% drop off imo would be unlikely, and that's HUGE) he would still be getting .921 PPP as opposed to .814 PPP that he's getting from those long 2's. That's a huge jump and the threat that he would actually shoot it changes the Clips dynamic big time.
