OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

Wes Johnson back tonight. Hopefully he really was the missing piece to the second unit. They really struggled in his absence.

Thank god. His spacing was sorely missed offensively, as Bass can't extend past 15 to 17 feet. Also, a surprise has been Wejo's defense this season. Admittedly, he wasn't good on that end last season, but I've been pleasantly surprised by his activity and hands. Even if Wejo isn't making 3's, the fact that he stands behind the 3 pt line is invaluable to the other 4 members of the 2nd unit.

I'm becoming a Luc stan man. Just watch him play defense on these elite wings man, he is locked in. He's so good on that end. Clips defense is back tonight to being stellar as well, which was much needed since as Law mentioned, they were sleepwalking through that half until late.

And i'm telling you, if this Luc offense thing is an actual thing man....8 pts in the first half, 2 3's, playing confidently. If he can become a threat and be respected on that end, the Clips starting 5 becomes even more potent than they already are.

Random: The Clips and FSN Prime Ticket should really consider making Don a part of the broadcast team with Mike and Ralph. Every time he's on the simulcast I enjoy it a ton. He's awesome.

Show us you can do it the 4th, Blake! I like it.

There he go!

Just can't put these MFers away.

CP3: "Hold my diiiiii"

When we're protecting a lead I would prefer to have Luc in over Jamal. Especially with a wing player like Derozan. Jamal played way too many mins in the 4th imo.

Mo Speights contributing once again.

Wes look rusty than a mug.

Austin has regressed to his rookie self  :smh:

DJ, Chris Paul, and Blake all did their thing. Great win. Keep stacking these W's.

That's what I wanna see.

CP still great at basketball man wow.

This team can be so good. I'm so scared to say where I think this team can go. Wow. Great win.

13-2!!

Fam, I think Luc had the same amount of pts as Jamal Crawford on 6 less shot attempts. He's actually contributing on offense too. There's no reason to still be trotting that out anymore. I think we have to start looking at that now so later down the line, it won't be awkward or weird for us to have Luc in down the stretch.

This is going to kill us in the playoffs if we don't start doing it now. Luc is a good enough threat to have in there with the core 4. Having JJ guard 6'7 and 6'8 wings is ridiculous.

Nonetheless, great win. First win in a minute where i'm legit hyped. Toronto has had our number. They are a really good team. And for most of the 2nd half we had them by 15pts. This clipper team is really good.

^ so I take it you don't wanna start rivers at the 3 anymore?
No. But it doesn't have much to do with his size. It just has to do with the fact that he's been one of the worst players in the NBA this season.

But just for kicks....
Albeit extremely limited time together so far this season, The L.A. Clippers lineup of Paul/Redick/Rivers/Griffin/Jordan came into Monday Night sporting a 134.2 Offensive Rtg and a 93 Defensive RTG for an overall net rtg of 41.2

To further explore that, Austin is spending over half of his time on the floor this season at the 3 position with the bench, in which they've posted a 90.1 defensive rtg coming into tonight, with Austin only allowing defenders to shoot 40% against him.

So Austin has been god awful, but him playing the 3 hasn't been bad at all for LAC in fact it's netted incredible results SO FAR so I don't even know what point you're trying to get at

I was never against rivers playing the 3.

Just opposed to him starting at the 3 and playing the bulk of his minutes, with the starters, at that position.

Numbers are cool and all. But they def can leave you flat on your face if you lean on them too hard.

Seems like you get a little offended whenever I have a view point that's slightly different from yours. Then, you throw numbers up to back your claims. Truth is, any real basketball numbers guy can develop our throw numbers up to counter any claim based on numbers you provide.

And, there's just so many variables that numbers never account for.

Want examples? Ok. Here we go...

You stated that the starting lineup with rivers at the 3 are putting up incredible numbers defensively and offensively to back up your point.

1. But you said yourself that the sample size was extremely limited...
How extreme? 10 min of court time total in 13 games? 2 min? 5min?

2. If the sample size is so "extremely limited" why used it as an example to back up your point?

3. Matter of fact, who were they playing in this extremely limited time?

4. Who was at the 3 during that time? (Roberson okc) who can defend but can't score a lick? Jimmy butler? Or some random scrub?

5. Did he really even guard the 3 position during that time? Or did pnr situation force a switch back on to a sg or pg?

Etc etc etc

You then point out how awful rivers has been...I sort of agree. I def think his overall offensive aggressiveness is a good thing and he's really playing downhill instead of just shooting bad jump shots all night.

But, going back to the original debate we had in this thread pages ago. I never said rivers shouldn't see time at the 3. I just said he shouldn't start and play heavy mins with the starters, against other teams starters at the 3.

OAN

you seem like a really smart guy. there are a bunch of smart guys in this thread that have really insightful input on the team that we are all passionate about. we have had a few debates and/or disagreements in the past regarding certain things that relate to the clippers...i also def understand the nature of NT, Being that there are so many dumb, trolling or just misinformed members here. because of that, i know that at times i have come off abrasive either in this thread or others and if any of that was directed towards you...my apologies

i def have no issue with a varying opinion and even hope to learn something from it. thats never been my issue with you. my issue has def been your smug and condescending style of writing whenever presented with a varying opinion. (at least towards me)

theres just no reason for it. we are better than that and point can def be made without ending a post with
so I don't even know what point you're trying to get at

i spent most of my early life in the shadows of the old sports arena before moving to inglewood, I've been a clippers fan since the danny manning days and rooted for the clippers when there was literally no reason to do so. i rooted for the clippers when i was embarrassed to say i was a clippers fan.

not telling you how to post or anything like that. you can def do what you want. but...

smug, condescending writing styles in response to me...

LIG, cause we are all in the same gang homie.

sorry for the long wind

Fam I'm not reading That lol no offense

You brought up something I thought was dead, which was Austin starting at the 3, and I responded to that. Nothing more nothing less.

All I can say is that You always been good money in my book bro. Everyone is good in my book. Even Trump supporters.

Come on y'all it's all ClipperGang in here. Although I do like have differences in opinion when it comes to the team. Unfortunately, I'm the smartest Clipper fan I know so this thread is my chance to have some good Clipper discussions

I think a lot of these stats are heavily skewed due to the blowouts we've had. I would say we're about 2-4 weeks away from have a large enough sample size to have some real discussion about rotations.

All that matters is that we're getting W's. I feel like we let the OKC and Memphis games slip (Memphis especially :smh:) but I think it balances out with games like Chicago the other day. 13-2 is crazy, man. We had a losing record this time last year . 7-8

Blake's game last night perfectly underscores something I mentioned the other day. You want him to be successful on offense in the 4th quarter - keep him off the box and let him work from the top or wing. He's so much more effective that way. Let's him use his quickness more and gives him more passing angles for when he get's doubled. Plus, seems to allow for other players to be in better offensive rebounding position. He's just not a good enough low block scorer to have him going iso in the post as a featured part of crunch time offense. Stick to the formula we used last night.

And I definitely think Luc's offensive output lately has at least earned him a look at closing games with the other starters. He's at least a credible threat on offense now, which is all we really need out of that position besides good defense. But Doc is stubborn as hell when it comes to his rotations and generally only makes changes when necessitated by injury or very poor play. So I think we'll continue to see a lot of 4th quarter Jamal. Sigh.

Finally, I know we're playing mostly sub-.500 teams, but I think this 6 game trip coming up is going to be tough. We've already played a busy schedule and the team is looking a little fatigued to me. I'll be happy if we go 4-2.

agreed regarding blake in the 4th.

i just think that we have seen too many posessions late in the 4th of a tight game where blake catches the ball in his comfort zone area on the court, the defense collapses and he throws up some junk. he's been better as of late to his credit though. but 2 years ago, it wasnt a shock to see him throw up some goofy *** reverse spinning layup.

Always enjoy crushing the Mavs, especially now that they have that douche Bogut.

I know I'm probably the only person in the country that feels this way but I even hate Carlisle. Love Dirk doe.

Yep, Wes was definitely missed with this unit. The spacing on offense + the ability to switch everything on defense is huge.

I say it every day but I love Mo. and i used to hate this dude so much

Feels good to blow a team out again. Let's keep it going @ Detroit on friday. They'll def be looking for some payback.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. Enjoy.
