OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

i never would have thought that the mavs would be this bad this early. i had them finishing 4th or 5th in the west.

i guess i was wrong about that

14 of 16 by thanksgiving. beating memphis, toronto, SAS, chicago, okc etc...perfect record on the road...top tier defense...

nobody would have believed it.

4-2, 5-1, 6-0 road trip? i think we would all be happy with either of the 3, especially if one of the wins comes @CLE.

then home, shortly after that...gsw.

i think we know what kind of team we have...but after dec 7, everyone else will know too.

signed,

optimistic clippers fan

believe me, i wasnt the only one.

so...ok...thx

repped

Mavs have had a ton of injuries. Dirk and Deron have barely played. Bogut has missed time. So, I think they're better than their record. But probably not good enough to be any higher than a six seed even if fully healthy.

But basically in the West it's us, Warriors and Spurs. Everyone else is a class below or worse.

I had the Mavs missing the playoffs in the NBA Prediction thread a couple months ago and some dude went off on me  You def weren't the only one.

But your OKC prediction isn't looking too hot anymore

yep.

OKC wont be able to hold up during this long season (at least not enough to finish 4th or 5th and come close to winning 50 games). although i still think they will make the playoffs.

and...like lawdog said, the mavs have had a bunch of injuries early. if they can get healthy, i think they can make a run for the 7th or 8th seed if they get on track pretty quickly.

(to say that the mavs was a crazy pick because they "just dont have a squad" in inaccurate.) they have been bit by the injury bug prob more than any other team so far in this young season.

they done have much, I seen them struggling for 8th

i picked them to be 5th, you have them struggling for 8th...

you said i was "wildin" but...

the difference between the 5th and 8th spot may be what? 4-6 wins? and thats being nice. last year, the difference between 5th in the west and 8th was 3 wins.

i think there is a misconception sometimes on how good or how much over .500 a team has to be to get a decent playoff seed.

Yikes. Knew he had been bad this year during the eye test but not this bad. Scary

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18133219/struggles-austin-rivers-worrying-la-clippers

Not really scary to me. As long as the second unit as a whole is playing fine, I'm not concerning if individual players are underperforming at times. We're 14-2, so Austin's poor play has not had much of a negative impact. He's not the reason we lost two games. And swapping Austin for someone like Jarrett Jack won't be the reason we do or don't get past a team like GSW or, if all goes well, Cleveland. That's going to be on our stars.

Really tough start. I really like Stan and Detroit so part of me is lind of happy for them rigt now.

I don't think we'll get blown out. We will have a chance in the 2nd half at some point.

anyone know any good clippers and/or NBA podcasts?

Clippers
-Locked on Clippers
-DO NOT listen to the ClipCast. It sucks.
-JJ Redick's podcast. Not necessarily a Clipper podcast hut he's had Blake, CP3, Jamal on.

Nba
-The Lowe Post Show

-EDIT-

There are few things more infuriating than a Jamal iso while Blake and CP3 are on the court.

Doc's Crawford loyalty killing us right now. Don't see us pulling this one out.

Pretty lackluster game for CP3. Must still have his mind on the Cowboys game yesterday.

Flat out outplayed us.

When Doc brought the starters back in with Jamal at the 3...first possession a stupid *** shot that doesn't hit rim. 3rd possession is a Jamal Iso score went from down to to down 8 or something. Get this dude off the ******* team.

I'm not mad we lost - had to drop one on the road eventually - but am a bit disappointed. It was really one ****** stretch in the mid-4th quarter that did us in. But credit to Detroit. They took advantage of our mistakes.

He was also food on the defensive end...Part of why Morris heated up.

Jamal Crawford and Rivers have been reallyyyy bad, on both ends.

The reason why I posted that article abt Austin is because it alludes to potential serious problems for the team in the future. That article Midas whale lump Crawford in there too.

They both are significant rotation players for this team and In all honesty, these two shouldn't be in the rotation of a championship team, and I love Austin but it is what it is.

At the very least they should be broken up, it's a terrible pairing on both sides of the floor and then you pair them with Speights, a( big who can't defend or rebound) and Wes (who's fine, but paired with Rivers Crawford and Speights makes us severely undersized in that 2nd unit. Boarding has already been an issue and will continue to be so in the coming weeks and months of the season)

I argue with my bro about this all the time, our bench is better than it was last year, but it still wildly irratic with variance, their defense will eventually fall, and Jamal and Austin are two guys who we depend on for production and they are flat out bad, or at the very least extremely inconsistent.

Also, the whole Crawford and the core 4 thing has got to end especially in the 4th. Come playoff time that's gonna KILL us.

Morris cooked Jamal and Austin last night. If we really gonna go with Luc as our guy then don't.BS with it, have some confidence with him and let him play. With JJ Blake and CP in the game having Jamal out there isn't necessary. You NEED Luc out there man, plus it's games such as last night's that build faith and confidence for the future
