OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

LMAO - that wasn't even close to being a kick. Oh well though ...

Also, DMC telling a fan to **** at the end of the game. The mics wereloud as hell tonight.

Austin still out here.

Another AR post  but he's been that good man

Come playoff time, our most important player may be Austin Rivers, that's what it's looking like right now.

His impact may be the difference between a 2nd round and out and a competitive bow out to the dubs in the wcf

His duality is becoming a big plus for us. Play him with the starters? He can be a sniper spot up guy and can be an alternate ball handler for CP that can play downhill with size and finish at the rim. Wing defenders will be put on CP and JJ, meaning Austin will be guarded by someone who probably can't check him. Bolds well for us. Play him off the bench? And you suddenly have a player who's been a killer as a starter, playing against 2nd units.

He's become one of the Clips best kept secrets in that he's a dynamo shooter, who can literally get to the rim with ease and can now finish. I can't begin to tell you how much tougher of a cover the Clips become with AR on the floor with CP JJ BG and DJ. He fills a gaping void on the roster, a guard / wing who can shoot, play downhill with size, and defend. As good as he's been this season, you'll really see his importance I think once the playoff hit

lmao I guess everybody from ESPN and ex players like Jalen Rose/Billups and others are clueless too cause they also said they need to fill that 3 position with a Rudy Gay type of player also mentioned Wilson Chandler/Crowder aswell... But ok I'm clueless...y'all have a Center/Small Forward that can't score and a 2 guard in Redick that can't create his own shot and a miniature PG y'all have to rely on to make all y'all plays besides Blake's lmao I'm clueless

I'm late to this but let me make this final comment to this comment

The Clips as constructed have been a perennial 50+ win team for like 5, 6 years straight. On avg, under Doc they've been a 55+ win team. Blake missed 40+ games last year and they still won 53 games with one of the best offenses and defenses in the entire league.

I don't think anyone is saying that the Clips don't have any voids or that the issues you brought up with their roster construction don't have merit, they certainly do. But...

1) you nor anyone on espn acknowledges any real avenue for acquiring these small forwards like crowder or chandler

And

2) The clips as currently constructed are really good...like blowing out the cavs at home good. Like blowing out the Spurs and grizzlies on their home floor good. Right now in the west they have a fantastic chance at beating anyone not named the Spurs in a 7 game series. Now, with that being acknowledged, how much better are those guys going to make lac?

The bottom line for me I guess, is that lac right now can beat anyone not named gsw in a 7 game series. Those guys aren't good enough to trade assets for, especially when really they wouldn't make us much better than we are now.

^^^ We do play GSW later this month, so maybe not. But we're for sure playing a hell of a lot better than were. A lot of is purely just playing harder on defense and with more hustle overall. Hope we keep it up.

Oh I'm not saying u guys can't compete without a 3...but if u guys had a Crowder or Gay, u guys could win the west and I believe with Blake and y'all team constructed now can play with Cleveland... But without a Small Forward.. You guys aren't winning anything

I mean I feel you, but I genuinely think barring injury, no one is beating gsw 4 times in 7 games, especially since they'll have homecour and Rudy gay or crowder isn't changing that.

And I also feel that barring injury, the clippers have a solid shot to beat anyone else in the west 4 out of 7 not named gsw right now. They aren't overwhelming favorites to defeat sas/hou/Mem/Utah but they have a good shot against them right now as it stands and Rudy gay or crowder isn't making them overwhelming favorites against any of those teams.

So from my vantage point, there's no real point to trading for any of those guys when they don't move the needle enough for lac, especially since any trade will involve Austin Rivers and / or picks and unless that 3 is Kawhi or something it just isn't worth it.

I actually don't get people saying Crowder would be a difference maker for us. To truly improve at the SF spot we'd need someone who can manufacture his own offense. Crowder's not that guy. He's a 3 and D dude. Would be a slight upgrade over Luc, at best.

The 3s that would really help are guys like Gordon Hayward and Paul George. And we have no means of getting them without giving up other key pieces, so there would be no net gain.

Hayward and Paul George woukd be great for any team...I was naming guys thay ur team actually have a change of getting

Jae Crowder would ABSOLUTLEY be what this team needs .

3&D. Versatile. Can play small ball 4....and can handle it.

Boston won't give him up for nothing. And I doubt the clips have anything worth their while to give up.

Been wanting Crowder on the clips for the last 3 years

Dude, are you serious? Jae crowder, Hayward, gay,Paul George, all are in the same boat

The Clips have no chance of getting any of these guys. This is what espn and everyone who comments abt the Clips issues at the 3 and doc's gym skills don't seem to understand

How can you get ANY of those guys without giving up Austin and / or picks? You still haven't given the thread a logical way for the Clips to upgrade their 3 position.

In fact no one really has. The fact of the matter is, when you have 3 max contracts on your team, your team won't be perfect there will be holes. For gsw it's size and bench depth now, for us it's the wing, the 3 position. It is what it is.

Crowder/Gay/Hayward is free agents after this season, but I'm guessing Crowder would be easier to get but if I wanted any of these guys and wanna compete, I'm giving up Rivers and picks easily

I've loved him since Marquette and I would welcome him with open arms to lac, but how is lac supposed to get him ? It's not even a feasible prospect to engage in tbh

Like I said, most elite teams have multiple big, max deals on them. That hampers your ability to fill out your roster adequately. As a result, what all championship teams have to do is maximize your buy low, high risk moves and Doc has done an okay job of that. He found Luc for nothing, traded for Austin for nothing and found a way to resign him, I mean the Clips pretty much are locked in with their roster.

Exactly dude would be a good fit for Clippers....no.matter how you guys get a Small Forward...u get it...Austin Rivers is irreplaceable now? Man he's a dime a dozen.... Go get u guys a 3 and compete

I was confused when I saw these names. I was like...what cap space did Clips free up .

Team couldn't get Kent Bazemore in the summer. But I'm seeing PG13 and Gordo's name thrown around. What?

Off the top of my head....I can't think of a quality 3 that the clips can realistically get.

Swing a trade for Kelly Oubre or something . Wiz need to beef up the bench too :nerd:.

The Clips are going to (or at least try to) resign CP, Blake, and JJ.

Where in the world are they going to find the money to pay the guys you mentioned this summer?

Furthermore, the jazz aren't trading Gordon, and iit makes no sense to trade for these guys in season, give up assets for these guys in season, when there's a solid chance that they'll sign somewhere else this summer.

It makes no sense man.

Exactly my point.

Luc almost didn't make the team last year and now is shooting 40% on 3s and providing elite wing defense. I don't know how much more anyone could realistically expect from that position.

Tbh Austin's progression in that role has been a godsend for them and as maligned as Doc has been (and rightfully so in some cases) as a gm, finding Luc, and trading for Austin were reallyyy good.

At the end of the day you would like someone better than Luc at that position, but I genuinely don't have a clue as to how they would go about fulfilling that. Your hope is that guys like Luc and Austin play above their deals and reputation, which is a critical component to a championship team. No team is perfect, all teams have issues, it's just a matter of if your issue is fatal or not imo

U guys need another guy that can create his own shot, u can't only have 1 playmaker

I wouldn't resign Redick

I actually agree with you on this but that still doesn't solve the problem  JJ is going to get a deal from someone I feel that will be far more than what lac can offer

CP and Blake are getting 200Ms this summer, and with Deandre, Austin, Jamal, Wes, all on the books still the Clips will have cap issues regardless. They don't have the money to get a sufficient 3 man

Blake and CP are elite level playmakers, how many more playmakers do you want

And even if your premise is true, HOW WOULD THEY GET ANOTHER REALLY GOOD PLAYMAKER? HOW FAM HOW

Some trade deadline names I think are semi realistic....and would help:

Cassipi
Thabo
Taj Gibson
Wilson Chandler
