OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

I'll take Luc and Dawson over Crawford. Dead serious.
Man Crawford right now is at 10 ppg on 36% with horrible defense. That is Terrible but it's really magnified when he plays with a 2nd unit that includes pierce and smith (who's been good on defense thus far) who can't rebound. When they can't rebound, you need good defending and rebounding guards.

That being said, if we win tonight we'll be 6 out of our first 9 with guys banged up a bit. I'm okay with that, especially with a relatively cheeks schedule on the horizon.

PP is 6 ppg on 34%, I'd say he's up there with Crawford

I trust PP to pick it up though or at least offer more stability than Crawford later in the year

I said it earlier this week, PP is awful and his "clutchness" reputation has been romanticized to a point where he's on the floor far more than he should be right now. What he supposedly does well is not worth the sacrificing of more capable players at this juncture. No way should crawford and pierce be getting more minutes than Rivers, Stephenson, and Johnson. Pierce to me has to either play the 3, or play small ball four with DJ because when he's in the game with Smith he can't rebound or defend at all, and has been a trainwreck on offense.

Dawson and Luc > Pierce at small ball four.

Yeah PP should only play the 4 in very specific circumstances which was my thought coming in to the season

I know PP will come through later in the year though. Spot up 3's or elbow post ups where he can pass or shoot.. he'll have a few big moments from those situations. With how many options Doc has, there's no reason to stay married to PP or Crawford or anyone else for too long if they aren't having a good night

PP reminds me of Chauncey Billups when he came to the clips.

Washed, reputation for clutchness overblown. Contested transition 3's. I can see PP in with the starters at the 3 down the stretch though..

Billups was having a nice year before he tore his achilles. They looked like a well-oiled machine which was somewhat surprising since that was the first year CP came. Billups definitely wasn't washed until after that injury

Agreed. It was a big blow to the team when that happened. He never was the same after that and it actually hurt the Clips during the following season, when they got bounced by Memphis in round 1.

Now official that Wilson is out tonight. Jamal (ugh) to start in his place. Rather see Lance move to the 2 and Wes start at 3, but that's not happening.

Unless Blake goes for like 40+, we're going to lose if we don't get better shooting out of Jamal and CP than we did last night.

Wilson?

Also kind of funny that Wes is doing exactly what Shoeking said he could do in the little minutes he is getting.

I thought Pierce would have added a bit more than just launching 3's he's literally shooting ~80% of his shots from 3 at a 24% clip  :smh:

Law of averages tells me he's gonna go on a tear soon doe.

Deandre Jordan and Blake Griffin rank 1 and 2 on the Clippers in total shot attempts from inside 8 feet. Wanna guess who's right behind them? Austin Rivers. He has the third most attempts from inside 8 feet and has converted 16/24 or 67% of his shots in that area. For perspective, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick combined have only taken 28 shots from inside that area.
Speaks volumes so far. Hopefully he can keep this up. He's always been able to get to the rim almost at will, but his ability to finish has always hindered him. Let's hope this continues because as this team is playing out, more and more will end up falling on A&R's shoulders if Jamal and PP can't turn the tide off the bench.

You appear to be right.

@shoeking2102 - what's the deal, man?
I swear to you I heard it from somewhere last year in passing and rolled with it

Its just disappointing because I think Wilson is a cooler name than Jonathan (no offense if any of you are actually named Jonathan).

Maybe a blessing in disguise. Maybe being shorthanded will wake Doc up and realize he should be playing guys who are actually contributing on both ends. Plus, Blake is forced to be the man, which is good for him.
