OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

i may be in the minority, but i think that we can honestly beat GSW and win the west. its still early and there are still alot of kinks to work out. i dont see much that GSW has done in 2 games that cant be countered or matched by LAC.

the late game collapses have to be solved.

i am a believer that DJ must get 10-14 non dunk points to keep teams honest (especially early in game) DJ has a good enough jump hook to get himself 10 points w/o dunks and BG has to punish small lineups, welcome double teams and hurt them with his ability to hit the open man. i am also ok with jamal crawford in a role where he is a spot up shooter and less of a ball dominating playmaker w/ a second unit that has trouble scoring.

i would have liked to see austin rivers at the 2 and lance at the 3 down the stretch.

but as stated before. we are just in the start of a long season that doesnt really truly begin until xmas day...with a bunch of new parts. different crazy lineups need to be tried in order to see where they fit best when it really counts.

I'm predicting another L tomorrow. The Raptors have given us problems the last couple years and we never seem to come out the gates well in these early start games. Hope I'm wrong, but that's what I see happening.

i mean if you think about it in terms of GSW being a unit that doesnt have to figure out lineups, sets, personalities, ego etc etc

going against a clippers team that is basically having to figure out all of this stuff, i think the 2 games vs. GSW and just in the early season in general, in addition to CP and JJ being hurt. i think we are in decent shape.

bottom line though is we need to get better defensively and on the glass, specifically not allowing so many offensive rebounds. :smh:

I wish I could consider the Clips playing some D in the second half a silver lining, but I can't. Inexcusable game no matter how you look at it. At Denver on Tuesday is no gimme either.

Doc might not finish the season

We cut the lead to 6 with about 7 min left. There were 2 or 3 dead balls where Doc could have brought CP in but of course be waits for the lead to go back to double digits. Dude is hard headed as hell.

Don't see us beating Denver tomorrow so we'll be looking at 6-8. Looking like a 6/7 seed right about now.

rightfully so. team playing awful, Doc doesn't have a legit excuse for the team slumping.

Ballmer will prob assess things mid-december, see how the 5-game road trip goes, and figure out if Doc needs to go.

@DanWoikeSports: Loud commotion inside the Clipper locker room. Can hear it through the walls.

@DanWoikeSports: This isn't cup-against-the-wall stuff. Yelling could be pretty clearly heard a room away. Team has a lot to figure out. Couldn't tell who

Clippers have yet to find their identity this season and play a complete game. At this point, we're simply winning cause we have better talent, team could've been 0-13.

Was at the game and they were never in it. More questionable decisions by Doc and it just seems to be more and more obvious each game now.

What is Doc's infatuation with Jamal? :rolleyes

It depends on who would take over as interim coach. I'd lile to see Lawrence Frank. If it's Woodson then that's a firm hell no.

I don't think Doc should get fired just yet but something's gonna have to change and that usually means firing a coach.

Yeah, it really depends on who would take over. But my issues with Doc go beyond just Xs and Os and line-up decisions. I feel like this team just doesn't have the right mentality. Like they feel entitled to win and are quick to point to external factors when things don't go well. And I feel like a lot of that attitude comes from Doc.

EXACTLY...all comes down to the mental game. Doc has like the whining and crying go on long enough. Even as a Clippers fan is disgusting to watch. :x
We're entitled to nothing and haven't earned jack squat. If we have to take this beating early on to get that fire back then so be it.

- Over the past 2, 3 years our offense has been a Midrange / 3 point centric offense. This isn't an issue when you are making shots, but we quite simply aren't making shots. Make or miss league. Last season we touted a starting five that had 3 supreme midrange shooters, and four guys who were very good from deep. Our offense isn't nearly as fluid and this is a product of guys like CP, JJ to a degree, and whoever doc chooses to be our 3 man not being able to consistently knock down the midrange and 3 point shots

- Lowkey Paul Pierce is becoming unplayable. He isn't a good fit at all with the starters, and he's too slow and small to rebound and defend as a small ball four in the second unit. I can't fathom a place to put him within the rotation seeing as anytime he's on the floor those minutes could be had by guys like Wes, Lance, guys who at least can defend.

- The defense hasn't been the best, but it really hasn't been "that" bad. The Rebounding is what kills our defense. We can't control the offensive or defensive glass, and those are just so deflating and killing to our defense. No championship team is this bad on the defensive board. (This isn't to say that the defense hasn't been bad) Watching some film, half of our boarding issues is due to guys (Pierce, Crawford, among others) not being able to keep their man in front of them, or dying on screens, or just simply being out of position defensively. This in turns takes us as a team out of position to rebound.

- Rotations are awful. Between guys like Pierce and Crawford playing this many minutes, and guys like Lance, Josh, and Wes not playing enough, we aren't giving ourselves enough of a chance to win.

-WESLEY JOHNSON NEEDS TO PLAY MORE. MORE WESLEY JOHNSON.

@CraigFreemanNBA Wes was best LAC wing defender, nailed a 3 to bring the game down to 6 with 5 mins left. After timeout, Doc kept Crawford in, subbed wes out.
This is ridiculous. **** i'm talking about. Two days ago from me
How we handle our fourth quarter rotations will determine whether we break through or not. How we trade for Lance, Sign wes, to play friggin crawford and pierce down the stretch. The romanticism behind PP and Jamal's offensive ability will lowkey be the death of us.

If you're not going to play lance, and continue to play Pierce upwards of 25 minutes (He's played Pierce over 30 min in two of the last 3 games he's played,) and if you're going to keep playing wesley johnson under 20 min, (Wesley Johnson has approached 25 min just one time this year and that was in a blowout with nobody playing at phx) then there was no reason at all to trade Matt Barnes. NONE.

Agree 1000%

I think we'll end up getting it going soon too but the thought of Doc Docing his way through the postseason kind of makes this entire season pointless. Gonna see Austin-Jamal-Wes-Pierce-Josh smith lineups play 5+ minutes in the 4th quarter of a series clinching game. Can't wait.
