OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

Why? Sorry, bro. I'm not a fan of his. JJ >>> OJ. But if you mean as a replacement for Jamal, I guess that would be ok, as long as we don't have to pay him too much.
JJ Redick is without a doubt a better player than Mayo

As a replacement for Jamal and or Austin tbh.

He's a guy that can shoot and score off the bench, and has far better pg instincts than Austin does and in my opinion is as good of a playmaker as Crawford as well. He's also more unselfish than those two guys. I just think if the price is right, and he's available, he could be a guy that would work well with us. Much better alternative as a backup pg than Austin. (And I love Austin)

^^^ Speaking of playmaking, Lance really is a good passer. I thought he was just good at finding people off dribble penetration, on-the-fly, but recently I've seen him make some nice finds and deliveries in the half court as well.

It what he does lowkey.

The second unit will be 10x better if Doc let him be the backup one and moved austin off the ball. I want to consistently see this at some point this year honestly.

Doc should think about sending DJ + rivers/pierce for Dwight and Lawson if they're really that unhappy in Houston.

Would improve both teams to be honest. Lawson would be perfect off the bench for the clips

Yeahhhh...

No. While I do think Dwight is becoming undervalued, (especially on the defensive side of the ball) and while I do think DJ is not nearly as good on defense as portrayed, what dwight can ultimately net us as far as wins are concerned, is marginal at best. Like, he doesn't move the needle enough to ship DJ. And neither does Lawson for that matter.

Dwight is a better defender and a smarter player

He only have 2 moves... But that's two more moves than DJ has

Lawson himself makes the bench 2x better

Clippers need to shake it up cuz this current nucleus will not get the job done.

Not only that, but to do everythig we did to get DJ back and then trade him two months into the season...nah, man. I understand it's a business and you wanna win but you can't just do someone like that.

Not to mention, if Dwight is mad at being the 2nd option how mad is he gonna be when he finds out he's the third option here?

Cp3 will give Dwight 8-10ppg off lobs and easy jams... He will easily put up 16-19 ppg with 12 boards a game in LA. Dwight has never played with a point guard who will give him easy looks like cp3 would. Add that to the fact that you can actually throw him the ball 5-8 feet away from the basket and he can get you a few buckets off post play.

DJ imo is the most overrated player in the league and he's absolutely useless out there. Dude is the most physically gifted player in the league and he's scared of the ball

And he's currently the 6th option on the rockets shooting less shots than Terrance jones and Marcus Thornton.

I understand why you wouldn't wanna pull the trade, but the clippers need to win now and pulling this off would put them in the best position to win now because who knows how long cp3 will hold up.

I'm not opposed to the Clippers making the right trade. But just from a basketball standpoint, I don't think Dwight and Lawson will take is to the next tier. Couple that with the fact that both those dudes have lots of off-court baggage, just don't think it's a risk worth taking.

Clips by 7 tonight in the AT&T.

We are right there as far as keeping pace with the top of the conference which is awesome. I feel good with where this team's trajectory is pointing to, although I really think our bench could use someone like Lance to play more on the ball.

Yes, things are starting to come together more, including the bench. But I still feel like Doc is not managing the personnel and minutes particularly well.

Like I said before, tonight is a good test.

Doc in my opinion isn't, and I agree 100%.

However, I guess the bright spot is that he's actually searching for something that in his view will work. What I mean is, he isn't just trotting out the same lineups every night, win or lose. Like, lance playing last night, moving luc into the starting spot, giving wes some minutes at the 4, etc. playing DJ and Josh together, etc. (which he should do more. They have a tremendous net rtg together, albeit small sample size) it's encouraging to see him trying to figure out his personnel.

Tonight, as you stated will be an awesome litmus test.

The thing that I don't understand is how he could ever think that Not playing Lance, or playing him 5 minutes, is any good for the team. Also, on a night where DJ gets ejected in the 3rd quarter, why not see what Cole can do. At the very least he can be out there to provide rebounding instead of having Pierce's corpse out there playing the 4.

I think we show up tonight and win. Clips by 4. DJ shoots 23 free throws.

!!!!! Bruh

100% agree. Same page on this for sure

As Erupt alluded to, we're a poor rebounding team and we play PP at the 4 a ton.

At some point in this season, we will need to see what the tandem of Cole / Smith can do for the second unit as far as controlling the paint. Whatever we may lose with offense by playing cole in the 2nd unit, we gain on defense. We don't score with efficiency w/the 2nd unit anyway, midas well try and control the paint and board better to manage the scoreboard a bit.

^^^ Yeah, I've posted a couple times that I'd like to see Cole get more run. Surely Doc is aware that it took like 12 games into the season for us to actually come out ahead in rebounding and that it hasn't gotten much better since. And that's with DJ the number 2 rebounder in the NBA at 13 per and Blake now in the top 20 at almost 9 a game. The second unit gets absolutely hammered on the boards.

Yea, that 9-2 stretch was definitely fools gold. Beat up on bad teams and now taking L's like we were earlier in the season.

Looking real 45-37ish

Im hosting an ugly xmas party in a few hours. **** this.
