OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2023-2024 SEASON THREAD

If we can make up another game on Utah before that next matchup, I'll be a believer.
I ain't gonna lie,

I just can't imagine a healthy clipper team losing to Utah 4 times in 7 games after we've straight dominated them. Like the way the Warriors do us, we do them except we dont beat them by 50.

Regardless, for me it was never the first round. (However it will be if we fall to 6th lol) It was always the 2nd round.

Well, unless the Spurs finish with the 1 seed then we have 0 shot at the 2nd round. Just lime you can't imagine us losing to the Jazz, who in their right mind would pick us against the Warriors. If we can keep it under 40 it would be progress.

Which is why even an optimistic outlook for us is now a downer

i still feel that at this point, there is no team in the west that is guaranteed to beat us other than gsw.

hou
sas
utah
okc

we have more than a punchers chance to beat those teams.

the hope for me was always that they would get their scheme and settle in (especially defensively) to compete or beat gsw. but that is not happening. and it aint because of gsw primarily IMO

I am scared, I feel like being a fan is some sort of purgatory. I always get excited and hopeful, and always get depressed and angry at the team. But I am thankful for these past few years of winning, but the end is near if we keep this up.

I don't know if the end is "near" no matter what happens because of the New CBA.

It would be very weird for CP to negotiate that gigantic over 38 max only to not exercise it and leave 60 to 70Ms on the table this summer.

Don't think Blake will leave that much on the table this summer either.

Those two being back probably means Doc will be back.

I mean they could all say **** it and blow it up if we get bounced in the first round but that's a lot of money for Blake and CP to leave on the table.

I agree, but I feel like another playoffs with no trip to conference finals could mean the end is near for us, CP loves LA, and his kids are young, and I dont see him moving across the country. Blake will stay, but Doc is what i am concerned about. He is a good coach, but how far has he led us? I know we have gotten plagued by injuries, but still he hasn't gotten us too far with our pieces

^^^ I feel that some kind of major change is needed. This team as currently constructed has stagnated. I think that CP and Blake will most likely re-sign and I hope they do. I'm moore in favor of moving away from DJ and JJ.

As far as Doc goes, I've made no secret that I don't think he's doing a great job this season. But as someone else on here point out, if you make a change, the question becomes who do you replace him with? I would not be in favor of him being fired just to bring in a retread guy who's already had a few NBA jobs and been just moderately successful. Like a Kevin McHale or Alvin Gentry.

I'd rather see the team take a chance on someone new like an assistant or broadcaster.

And whether he stays as coach or not, Doc should be relieved of his GM duties. I just don't like having one guy wearing both those hats.

Most of this I agree with. Moving on from JJ and DJ would actually I think make this team instantly better depending on who replaces DJ. I think Austin Right now can replace JJ as a starting 2 guard moving forward. As I've said before, the DJ / Blake pairing never was a natural fit and this season more than ever, you can clearly see how badly it's effecting blake's game. He never has legit post ups because DJ's guy is always shadowing him and if it isn't that it's JJ Redick is always lingering around waiting to play catch with him. Ugh. And DeAndre Jordan, I must unfortunately say, is an overrated defender, at least from the eye test for me.

And as far as Doc goes, I'm not opposed to a coaching change, but I would be cautious with that. Because this is a guy who despite significant injuries during his tenure in LA, has been relatively good. As you said, if we're going to move on from him, I would just like to see who that coach would be because objectively speaking, doc is one of the better coaches in the NBA.

And finally, w/ Lawrence Frank in the FO, Doc is only the president in name only basically, and I love Lawrence in this role. Our entire FO was revamped last offseason, and the effects of those are still in progress, one of which, is lessening the load on Doc, and increasing the load on Frank and the other new departments in Basketball operations.

Utah lost tonight.

If this team doesn't come out and take care of business tonight then I'm done for the season.

A win tonight puts HCA very much in play.

uhhh, when did Pierce get back in the rotation? First game in the last couple of games or so where i'm actually sitting down and watching

sort of.

I know it's against the worst team in the NBA but this was a great performance. Keep it up. That 4 seed is within reach :pimp:

Is it me or do they always come out with a focus and edge against the lakers you don't see against other teams

Austin Rivers has seemingly been hot for this entire season.

What an improved basketball player he is. If and when we move on from JJ redick this summer, i'm not totally opposed to Austin Moving into that starting 2 role.

Can't mess around tonight. Dallas is still trying, unlike some of our other recent opponents.

Welp, digging ourselves an early hole...

Missing a lot of open shots. Hopefully they start falling because Dallas isn't exactly playing well themselves. Think this may bea night we meed Jamal to have one of those nights with the 2nd unit.

Can't believe I just wrote that. God Bless us.

-Edit-

Amazing end to the half. 17-2 run in a matter of a couple minutes.

^^^ It was pretty much all energy. Just started playing harder and it made a huge difference.
