That's because Nick Young is a 32 year old clown who is at best a sixth man on a team.  Its not like he is going to ever be the face of the franchise.

People were calling for Nick Young to get cut or traded before anything like this happened.  Hell, people were calling for Nick Young to get cut after this happened.

Its a different situation when you are talking about the potential face of your franchise.  You don't just cut someone that important over some petty offcourt  **** like this.

Could you imagine if the Lakers cut Russell and then lost their pick this year?
I never stated Russell needs to be traded or cut

If Nick was sincerely apologetic, and showed remorse. Then absolutely I'd hold the same opinion I do now if the roles were reversed.

Turns out though, the only mature one in this aftermath, is the one who did the immature thing in the first place. Irony at the height of irony. And he's 10 years younger. 20 and 30 is a big difference in maturity level, even if clearly we don't see it in the reaction of this story.

He stood there like a man, took his criticism, is still taking his criticism and answered for himself.

Also the reason why I have no opinion on snitching when it comes to this... Is that well from what we know of how it got out... Was not from Russell. Therefore... He's an idiot, and immature for recording a private conversation. The site that leaked the video said it wasn't Russell who gave it to him.

But why does he have it on his phone? I don't know. You've never forgotten to delete something from your camera roll? Or perhaps it was on his iCloud despite deleting it from his phone. Yet we know his Instagram was hacked a week ago. But NOOOO Russell had this for 3 months then leaked it. C'mon fellas.

but nah none of you have EVER been wrong. Have never done anything that skewed your moral compass. And have never done anything that would be funny in the light. Didn't know I was dealing with a bunch of Buddhist monks in the Lakers Thread. Interesting demographic that the Lakers have stumbled upon.

Because people are saying we wont ever recover from this.  It isn't like they have basically been in the same exact situation before.

At the end of the day the Lakers are the Lakers and they will rebound.  No one will give a **** about this in a year.  Most people didn't even know the damn Kobe thing happened and that's the point.

You're wrong though. When Kobe did his deed, his rep was at an all time low around the league, after the a Shaq stuff came out it was worse. Players openly/and some covertly did not **** with him after that, he was already an abrasive personality before.

If you think about it nobody of any significance ever came willingly to play from 2004-2009 until Ron Artest and he was way on the back end of his career and had his own baggage. So in his prime as the best player in the world from really 4 or 5 seasons no free agents came and he was playing at an otherworldly level. LO was traded for, Pau was traded for, Bynum and Ariza were drafted most of the rest of the team that got us back to prominence were as well. So I don't know why it's so out of the realm of possibility after you have current and former players who've spoken out on this to believe that this isn't going to have any kind of affect on guys willingly wanting to come here. We've seen it before.

Sure winning and playing like a possessed animal helped Kobe recover; him maturing also helped but it damn sure didn't eliminate that stain from his record. Just look no further at it being brought up again thanks to D'Lo's shenanigans when it's supposed to be down the final stretch of a farewell tour.

It's moved down the ledger,it's not the first thing you think of when talking about Kobe, but it's still there for a lot of people. D'Lo is in a different position because at this point it's all he's known for. That's the first thing that pops up when you Google him, him being a rat.

And to reiterate nobody knows how he's going to react, Kobe was already a maniac before the Colorado incident/snitching fiasco. We have no idea what type of person D'Lo is other than a very immature one that has some serious growing up to do.

Then what point are you trying to make?  That people aren't freaking out enough over this?
What ? I'm just discussing the situation and find it funny dudes get up in arms if you mention anything negative about Russell .. What are you trying to prove with your emotional rants on why you hate Ny ???

We had 2 whole days of freak out. Dudes popped up and popped in this thread and made hundreds of posts about it... We chopped it up, dissected it again, chewed it...

No new point is going to need to be said until we find out who leaked it if we even do...

It's like the BvS thread in here

I mean we can just ignore that the Lakers didn't have any significant cap space between 2004-2009. Until Ron Artest. And prescribe It was Kobe's reputation that was the reason.

Exactly.  Again, nobody is going to care about this in a year.

All I'm saying is people are way overreacting to this.  This damn near exact same situation happened before, the Lakers recovered and won championships.  People are acting like we will never be good again and the sky is falling.

Marcellus said either yesterday or the day before that this was exactly the case and it was said around that time as well that he had done a lot of harm to himself, his brand, and his rep amongst other players in the league.

At least the homie LTB acknowledges that it COULD be a factor for some people, even D'Lo himself acknowledged trust is important for developing a winning culture the other day. Yet it's not going to be a factor at all according to some when we have evidence first hand that it does affect players. And it just happens to coincide at this point where we do have significant cap space and the mantle is here for the taking.

So nobody cared what Kobe did a year later? It won't be in the news cycle, but to think that players are going to forget is downright naïve. And let Iggy and Nick break up/NY gets cut b/c of this...it'll be right back up in the news.

I'm not saying it isn't going to be a factor at all.  I'm just saying that down the line no one is going to care about this.  At the end of the day, if people don't sign with the Lakers it is because they are going to win less than 20 games this year, the head coaching situation is a mess, and management doesn't seem to have a clue how to fix it.

Whether people cared or not I dont know, I can't possibly know what every person in the NBA thinks.  At the end of the day though, do you really think if the Lakers rebuild a winning brand and have cap space, people are not going to sign with the Lakers?

No superstar will sign with the LAKERS

Or they don't want to play with a supposed franchise guy that snitched on his teammate. It's okay to say it.

No has anybody beside Metta  ever said they came to the Lakers to play with Kobe?
Look at how many free agents they signed over the last 3 years alone. Sure, they may not be superstars, but it didn't hinder them signing with the Lakers when they had cap space.

This is the funniest part to me.

Same dudes Cakin for Kobe and killing D''lo

It's amazing.

Who's in here caping for Kobe? There's quite a few flapping for D'Lo though.
