i dont think the lakers beat the celtics with ariza in '10. ron set the tone from the jump that it wasnt going to be like in '08. ariza was great in '09 but ron was needed in '10.

ron :nthat:

Anybody attending the Fanfest on Wednesday? Don't have tickets to the game but I kinda want to go and pay my respects and hopefully get a pic with the trophies.

After I hopefully pick up those XI's I'm heading there. There are a few of us from the thread going. I definitely want to take a pic with all of the trophies.

Ska, question. (Tryin to keep my post count down in the hater thread  )

I was confused on your pomp/circumstance post for "3" worst years.

First, it's two. Two worst years. The other he played 6 games. After fighting like crazy to come back early, which he shouldn't have done.

These last two, yeah, you can blame him.

But the pomp part, really? You don't agree with a franchise giving him a farewell tour after losing out on Magic's? Which is exactly what Jeanie said on 2/48.5 day.

Kobe has fault for taking the money (tho, would any of us really say nawwww to an extra 20+ million dollars? )

But he didn't let Pau walk for nothin.
He didn't hire Byron.
He didn't break Randle's leg.
He didn't break Nash.
He didn't sign Nick Young for 5 friggin seasons.
He didn't offer Melo a max contract.
He didn't trade for Hibbert.
He didn't help the team win games in late April when they should have been tanking. (2 years ago)

I mean.....

He limited our cap a bit, absolutely, but this isn't all on him. The last time we had the real Kobe, he killed himself on the floor dragging 3 broken HOFers to the playoffs who promptly got swept without him.

He died with those free throws.

And tho I hate them all for 48.5, the Lakers have made roughly 64326787532578765 times that for their ticket sales these last 2 years while we lose "accidentally" for lotto tickets.

In the end he's the franchise leader in almost every category, a top 5-8-10-12 player based on where you stand, and every other team has followed suit with tribute vids, and players begging for shoes/jerseys etc.

Why, exactly, should the team/league not be paying their respects for what he's done for our franchise (and the league) in twenty years? Don't forget, NBA, TNT, ESPN, NBATV, Nike, Apple, Social Media alllllllllllllll been in this too, not just our franchise.

Why does that disgust you?

And if we were a championship team, that's what we would say? Instead of "Awww yeah, he tied Jordan's 6! YES!", we'd say, "Nah, he only played 6 games. Doesn't count, tbh. He has 5 rings and an Adam Morrison ring"? HAAAAYL nah. Only people saying that would be folks in the haters thread.

Magic has nothing to do with Kobe. Unrelated connection being made there.

Depending on their desires, lots of people would. And lots of people wouldn't. Straight up... and you have to know to know how true this is, because I honestly and truly don't give 2 s***s about money... I'd turn it down. I'd be the one reading the contract and then telling THEM, "Gee, that seems like a lot. We can, ummm, we can build a good team around this? Because I don't know if you've seen me lately, but I'm kinda broken, brehs. And if my broke self can be out there with a solid squad that at least has a fighting chance to help me get a 6th, let's do that."

I guarantee there are people who will read that and be tempted to, "Ska outchea lying to folks.

Turn down $48.5milly?! Stop it, b."

Don't do that.

Every line with 'break' in it, I'm with.

The remaining lines, I'm skeptical. Dude ISSSS... our TEAM. The face. He's not as blatant and intense as Bron is, but that's because our history is deeper than the Cavs', and more importantly, our FO has way more of a clue than Bron's FO. But that doesn't change the fact the he definitely has an input in what goes on, and not just a passing, "Hey, Kobe, ooooh, is that an acai bowl for breakfast? Nice. So anyways, what do you think of Roy Hibbert over in Indiana? No thoughts? Okie doke. See ya tonight!"

No way.

Everyone else is jumping on because of what we're doing. The media hated Iverson, but if he had a farewell tour, it would have blown up. Let's not act like the media operates on independent thoughts.

But the first question? Why should they not? Because Duncan. Because Dirk. Because Jordan had one, but he ain't no damn Jordan.

Because eff a Kobe. Straight up. Can't WAIT for our drunken infatuation with him to be over... but I fear it may never happen. He is the most talented, hardest working attention diva I've ever seen. To me, he's the arrogant, rich, well-mannered gentleman that says all the right things to our sister, but we don't like him.

Good stuff.

Few adds, Kobe-Magic connection is real. Jeanie said day of 48.5. Team hated they never got to tour Magic, but they did Kareem. She wanted this for Kobe, I promise you she said it.

 c'mon man, Kobe ain't hire Byron, or trade for Hibbert, etc. He can say whatever, FO don't listen to him. Remember ship out Bynum? He can have input, but never final say. Hell, they interviewed Byron 16 times, they didn't even want him.

And Nick? You think Kobe spoke up for Nick? Come on B.

Management hasn't gone to Kobe for input in like five years with relation to coach hirings and player acquisitions. But I'm sure they had Kobe in mind.

no one would say kobe led the team to a championship if he only played 6 games in a season

reaching as usual in your hate

So much reaching, but hey at least the nonsense is consistent.

Need Bean to do us a solid in one last recruiting pitch to KD and Russ on the way out.

Also this is disgusting. 40 against every team, 50 against more than half the league. Equal opportunity destroyer.

There's a few things to Kobe's play this year. Last year, I wasn't particularly bothered by it. A much different team.

This year there are better options on offense, who can run an offense at the very least more effectively. That's Kobe's fault for not recognizing he is a back seat player now. And I truly believe he'd have a really nice year if he recognized this when you take it all into context.

BUT the fault is on the coach just as much. He thinks he's still 2005-06 Kobe and with the exception of maybe a dozen games, he's not. He's far below that. He is hijacking the offense and it is not producing an optimal result.

Yes, Kobe should recognize it and adjust.

BUT as a coach, your offense is being hijacked. You gotta say that he needs to switch up, or hell create an offense that caters to what he is now, not what he was then.

And the fact that Byron does not say anything means he's either scared, and in that case needs to man up as he tells his players to do ever so often. OR what our offense has been is his actual offense and that's just hilarious.

It's on Kobe for thinking he is what he used to be. But overwhelmingly it's on Byron for being such a miserable coach to let him do this.

As for 2013-14, nobody would give him credit for that team if they won a title. 6 games is like a week and a half.
