Let me put a little background to this..

I've played ball, played multiple sports for varying degrees of time (football was very short, that team was horrible). I've coached. I've mentored. I teach currently.

I've dealt with kids long enough, and I am an adult enough to know that they will **** up royally. And if you're lucky, it will only happen once for a kid. Some kids it happens to over and over. You tell them to do better, where they went wrong, and you let it go.

If you're not going to let it go, you're just as much of a child yourself.

I don't want to hear about bonds, and team, and all this other imaginary nonsense. As a coach, you let them air it out, and you let it go forever after that. You say your peace, you lay into him, and you let Russell explain himself before the team, ask for forgiveness, and be done with it. He ****** up. He made a mistake. He didn't even release the damn tape.

If you're going to keep acting like a pompous ***, and hold a grudge for some **** that you were not even involved in, then sorry there's no place for you on this team.

Clearly Russell screwed up.. But spare me about your bro code, and your man cards. I'm 26 years old. There's far more pressing things for me to worry about than the bro code.

There's things I would do at 20, I'd frown upon at 26. Things against my moral compass. But guess what, you learn from them.

But if you're Jordan Clarkson, and are going to be upset for something that you were not party to.. Well then you should possibly mind your business as well.
yeah, these guys might get over it, but who the hell is gonna trust him again? These dudes live with each other for half a year and if there is no trust between players, then there's no camaraderie, which is absolutely crucial for a successful team.

most of these dudes in the NBA are from the hood, and as dumb as you think it might be, there's one rule in the hood and that's "don't ever snitch on your homies"

this wasn't a crime swaggy committed, he didn't stab nobody, he didn't rob another teammate, he told De'angelo a true story because he felt like he could trust him without having the convo being recorded, or even worse, having that video out on social media. NO nba player will ever fu*k with deangelo and trust him like that again. i'll guarantee that.

The rule is not to snitch on anybody.

Also Kobe snitched.

What if iggy calls off the marriage...man........

I guess D.Los gotta sack up..make a statement to the team privately..and it would help if iggy or nick made a statement...but what if....what if she calls it off cuz of all this...

Things with D.Lo and that roster will never be the same....

you really comparing Kobe saying that shaq paid women hush money (a rumor) especially between 2 dudes who hated each other... to deangelo recording Nick young secretly and having that **** on tape??? these dudes are supposed to be close friends and he stabbed him in the back for no reason whatsoever. how can you defend this clown?

We can back and forth in the circle forever. At the end of the day, his rep took a hit. This isnt age specific either. If he did this at 36 it would still reflect negatively on his character amongst his peer group.

Thats not a rumor. He was quoted in the police report

ESSENTIALLY.

He can bounce back from this. It's on him though. You got dudes in here trying to deflect and blame others. Nah. It's on D-lo. That's a ho move. Aint no defending it. Just let it ride out. This is fresh, Lakers are losing...big magnifying glass etc. DLo may be fine down the line. But his reputation definitely took a nice hit.

Becoming a star...or a better lockeroom guy is the remedy. He's a clown. But he'll be ard.

Lol most dudes in the NBA are not from the hood
mean.gif
bet it's more than 50%.

I want to know how swaggy hasn't shown him the hands...He knows he's gone anyway after this..The prized rook isn't going anywhere..I doubt dudes would stop him from general mood of locker room..

The report says that Nick hasn't played the last 10 games and didn't make the trip to Utah last Monday's road game.

I'm pretty sure things got heated between the 2 of them and the Lakers coaches and other team officials are keeping them apart as much as possible.

This stunt is going to stick with Russell long after Nick Young is a former Laker.

Players talk and have friends on other teams. The Lakers can clean house, but the new teammates are going to have trust issues with Russell as well.

And Kobes reputation took a huge hit in 2004 after he aired Shaq's dirty laundry out. The difference is that Kobe was the best player in the league at the time and entering his prime. Russell is an unproven rookie on a 15 win team. Kobe deserved all the scrutiny he got in 2004. But he was an established proven player and the best in the league, so he had the pull and clout to ride that storm out where Russell at this point in his career doesn't.

Point "JOEY GRECO" the cornerstone of the franchise huh?

Nah bump that he'll probably try to get dirt on a Ben or Brandon once they start to steal his shine and really be a cornerstone. Midas whale cut bait now. If his beige buddy JC ain't rocking with him then he ain't really worth alienating the rest of the team. Call up Philly and PHX on draft day and see what's available.

I agree with this. I don't care about man code, or hood ethics or none of that ****. What I do care about is the future of this team, and at this point, given what the Lakers have...much of that will depend on the ability of these young guys to gel, trust in one another, and develop alongside one another.

I fear that D'angelo just set the Lakers back a ways with this stunt, as it is going to lead to a toxic locker room environment for the forseeable future.

Yeah Kobe at that time had 3 rings already.

In Kobe's defense though about the whole thing about him snitching on Shaq. I mean heck I don't care what type of dude you are or if you are from the streets or whatever.Dude was being interrogated by police detectives and was facing a rape charge. Most dudes in that situation would also fess up and snitch on somebody.

Kobe's image during that time and from 2004 to 2007 really was bad and at it's all time low.He didn't really recover until 2008 when he made it back to the Finals and lost to the Celtics. After that when he won his last 2 rings he gained more respect and the hate went down on him quite a bit.

It was an interesting time for Kobe to say the least. His reputation took a huge hit in 2004, and the Lakers sucking that season while Shaq had a real good season in Miami following the trade only furthered the reputation hit. Throw in the book Phil wrote around that time as well.

But he repaired a lot of that in the 05-06 season when he get that joke of a team to 45 wins, had some of the best scoring performances ever, and almost willed them to an upset over the Suns in the first round before kwame let that rebound get past him.

Only for his reputation to take a hit again a year later when he demanded to be traded. He repaired it a lot during that 07-08 season before they got Shaq though as they were overachieving quite a bit that season even before they got Pau. But yeah, 04-07 were rough times for Kobe.

Blacklisting yourself in your rookie season and likely your team in a off season where everything is already on [emoji]128175[/emoji] . Great job kid making an already **** situation even worse.
