Lakers auction section of flooring that honored Kobe Bryant in finale

Before Kobe Bryant's last game April 13, the Los Angeles Lakers installed two new hardwood sections on the court, one with the number 8 and one with the number 24, the two numbers Bryant wore for the team in his 20-year career.

On Wednesday, the team announced that it would be auctioning off the No. 8 section from that game, in which Bryant scored 60 points.

The floor piece, which measures 20 feet by 8 feet, is signed by Bryant, and the proceeds will benefit the team's charity, the Los Angeles Lakers youth foundation.

The auction began at 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday and closes May 15. The current high bid is $12,100.

Wouldn't be surprised if Kobe kept #24 part of the court for himself or if it gets sent to the Naismith Basketball HOF.

I guess we just gonna bypass the report we have strong interest in Ollie....
This is gonna be a process I wouldn't get to high or low on the names we see. Don't forget we are still the Lakers. So we are gonna be linked to literally everyone. But for all I've seen, heard, & read it looks like Walton, Messina, & Ollie are leading the charge

I wouldn't put too much into Dough Collins. But then again, when I think about who is in the FO....

Just remember when they hired Mike Brown it was because he knocked Jim & Mitch's socks off with a video presentation on his coaching philosophy and how he would coach the team at the time

Pringles was hired because it was allegedly Dr. Buss final dying wish and he was still calling the shots from his death bed in his hospital room. That's why Essential has that report book marked and will come in and defend Jimbo whenever that hiring subject gets brought up and why Phil Jackson was not brought back for his 3rd run with the Lakers.

Byron..well I don't know what Mitch & Jim were smoking at the time when they hired him  . All they literally said was he's a Laker guy and knows the Laker way :smh:

The reports I've seen lately is that Mitch is the one primarily handling this coaching hire and Jim Buss is not as involved.

I always picture Jim and Dr Buss alone in the hospital and Dr Buss passes away; then Jim comes out and says "his last wish was to hire Dantoni to bring back Showtime "

And then Jim passes on Phil not because of ego but because it was his dad's dying wish

Such a lame excuse

He passed away like 6 months after the Phil stuff

Also Dr. Buss and Phil were not the best of friends either.

The Buss family dynamic before Dr. Buss' death was immensely complicated. Now it's just a sad dynamic.

Jim Buss though...

Reports said that one of the reasons Jerry West left after the 2000 championship run was Dr. Buss was grooming Jim to be VP of basketball ops and have a say in player personel decisions which he has now. Yeah the story goes logo for years in the 90's took Jim under his wing and trained him by taking him onto player scouting trips and to draft combines. But they also said back then wasn't really interested in doing it and listened more to friends at bars on how to run a team.

Also by the time logo left he knew he had Mitch for years as his main assistant GM and he knew the Lakers would be alright, which they were during 3peat years.

I mean this is one of the many reasons why I have ZERO confidence with Jim Buss building a team.

I actually want to see that report. Because never once have I seen that.

The things I've seen:
West despised Phil. Phil despised Jerry. Another combustible relationship.

Also Jerry's health went south for a bit.

Stephen A also recently said there was something money related as well. Lakers refused to pay him some money owed. (This I'm dubious about).

We STILL talking about this?!!!
I don't know who lives in the past more our FO or our fanbase jeeeeeeebus
Just let it go....if Mitch & Jim fail this next year then everybody will get their wish and they will both be gone :smh::x

I know, right? People need to stop living in the past! We haven't had a bad coach in like...

... days.

Is anyone here worried about Bazrmores foot injury history if we look at him in free agency? He snapped a foot tendon when he was a Laker and I remember hearing it was the 2nd time he had that injury

So we're rooting for the Hornets tonight right? Get the Heat to think long and hard about bringing the band back together.

Yea, whatever helps get Whiteside out of there.

Hey P, what do you think about Biyombo as as back up back up plan to Whiteside/Horford?

That would be alright with me. He can do all the ideal things you want out of a center on defense. He may be worse than Hibbert on offense though.

Man guys. You think our thread has been depressing. I lurked in the Knicks thread and realized how good we have it lol
